If you are stuck in this part of the world for the night, sleep in the back of the car and eat yesterday's leftover sandwiches-it will be a far superior experience to staying at Mt Dare.
The rooms are similar to shipping containers. They leak, or at least ours did. They are unheated and the nights get chilly in that part of the world and no tea/coffee making facilities were supplied, not even drinking water! Our room was adorned by grafitti from a previous occupant that nobdy had attempted to remove. The communal shower/toilet block is open to the weather, the interior unlit and supplies luke-warm water at best. Although no-one would expect eating places to be able to serve all fresh food in such remote locations, to have a meal served that is still partially frozen, after an hour and a half of waiting is inexcusable. I joked to my friends that my kids had served their back-packing apprenticeships by staying here! Unfortunately the experience didn't come at backpacking prices with the room (for a family of 5) costing over $160.00 and the meal over $100.00.
