“convenient hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2007

I stayed at this property the 1-8 april. The grounds are very nice and relaxing. They have a small pool, it does get a bit dirty at times though. I had room number 3 which was large, but dark. The bathroom isnt set up very well. The closet is behind the door so you have to go into bathroom, close door to get to closet. The terrace at the top of the hotel has nice views and also has views into the bullring. The breakfast which is included is very nice. The staff is very helpful. We really loved Anabetta. The hotel is very close to the main square, about 3-4 blocks. I would stay here again. It is nice basic accomodations, don't expect upscale.

“Very Bad, except location”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2007

The hotel was rundown, and service was non-existant. The only redeeming quality was the location, right by the main square (jardin). The only thing the maid did was make the bed, nothing much else. They initially refused to supply utensils for the kitchen that we paided for. They eventually supplied utensils after half our 8 day stay. They really only care about people that stay more than two months. Actually, the long termers seem to only require friendship of the other guests and few services.

“My Favorite Hotel in Mexico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2006

I am writing this letter to let you know how much I have enjoyed my vacation at the Hacienda de las Flores for the past 25 years. I always recommend Hacienda de las Flores to people interested in going to San Miguel. The charming hotel is located in the best part of the city and truly has the authentic Mexican atmosphere that so many of the trendy and high end hotels seem to lose as they try to model themselves after well known chains. Hacienda de las Flores is always my first choice. The staff goes out of their way to make the guests feel comfortable. I love having my coffee in the attractive French dining room on the 2nd floor of the hotel every morning. If you are lucky the entertaining host and hostess might join you. They are full of helpful information. There is a fabulous view of the garden that is rejuvenating to the soul. After a delicious Mexican breakfast, I love to take a stroll around the zocolo which is only a 3 minute walk from the hotel. For those who prefer to stay around the hotel, the grounds are beautiful. There is so much to look at in the eclectic Mexican garden. It is spectacular! You will not see one like it anywhere. It reminds me of gardens featured in the recent movie, Frida Kahlo. It captures true Mexican charm with its vibrant colors and collection of pots from surrounding areas. I have always enjoyed lounging by the pool for a short while with a good book. The late afternoons can be chilly and I recently found a little heater in my room that worked very well. The rooms are quite comfortable for afternoon siestas and freshening up before the evening begins. The hotel is quiet and one can sleep well. I have always felt safe because of a night watchman on patrol. Now that I am almost done writing this letter about my last 25 years of experience at the Hacienda de las Flores, I am starting to feel like it's time to plan another trip. I can't wait to get back to my favorite hotel in Mexico!

“Horrendous Experience at Hotel Hacienda de las Flores”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2006

I spend many hours deciding where to stay in San Miguel and finally decided on this place mostly because of the pool.
Well, when I got there, the pool was covered, dirty and not heated and therefore closed.
My room had been changed from one I booked last May to one right beside a construction site next door. When I complained about the noise which started with banging on my walls at 8:00 AM, and continued all day, I was informed that my room had been booked by someone else that this was the only available room. I informed the management that this was unacceptable and made arrangements to move to the Posada de la Aldea. They proceeded to charge me about 150 US a night for the 2 horrible nights I was there. There was not a thought about the customer here. BEWARE booking this hotel!
