“One criticism - 1 night wasn‘t enough !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2009

This hotel was included as part of a 8-day package tour from El Paso, Texas through Mexico’s Copper Canyon to El Fuerte and back. We didn’t have a choice of hotels, but who cares? This place was wonderful!

Glad we didn’t experience the food poisoning or bad meals of the earlier poster. On the contrary, everything with our stay was great. Wonderful food, beautiful hotel in a spectacular setting. As has been reported before, every room has a balcony right on the canyon rim. In the evening, the included entertainment got us going with most of our tour group of 45 letting their hair down and joining the dance floor. The more Margaritas and Coronas, the more talented the group got!

A memorable experience was watching the first light from our guest room’s balcony. Then an early walk and back in time for the buffet breakfast.

One criticism - 1 night wasn‘t enough - 2 would have been better to give us more time to explore the Copper Canyon.

A special thank you to our tour leader, Pedro Palma, for taking us for that walk and showing us some hidden gems in the Canyon.

“Food poisoning !!!”

A train to copper canyon took almost 7 hours from El Fuerte to this place.... When we arrived, I noticed most of the customers are elderly people part of large groups (age above 65). We were definitively the youngest persons around

We had NO choice on the food (server in a large dining room sitting on large tables - no class). We had to eat the meat they served us, it did not tasted well,

Scenery is unique, you really are sitting on top of the world

Very strong Benidorm feeling. This hotel is clearly dedicated for 65+ aged tourists. Very poor ...

At 8pm activity in hotel ended and everyone went to bed

Breakfast was ok

There is nothing else to see beside the landscape

Dinner at noon next day was again terrible, this time we had to eat fish.... no salad or whatsover..

Worse was however that we got a pood poisoning which worsened when we took another 7 hours train ride back to El Fuerte

The hotel was great and the food was delicious. The room was charming and comfortable. The view was beyond compare. We so enjoyed the hike to the cave dwellings. We could have spent so much tmore time here.

“Chef Wanted”

The view from the Posada Barrancas Mirador is magnificant, the rooms are nice and clean but very basic. Unfortunately the food was horrible. Upon my arrival after a 7 hour train ride the only thing they had to offer was fried fish (no menu nor any other choices) and for dinner it was a repeat, pasta with a small piece of beef. If you have specific dietary needs you will not find any choices in this posada. In addition to the above, the breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired. I'm please that I spent one night, but happier to move on to El Fuerte where I had some wonderful, tasty food.

Loved -loved-loved this place!
It had loads of charm with an incredible view. Lots of great hiking right outside your door. Horseback riding too! Even though we traveled with a tour group, we found the food quite good here. Maybe they had a change in chefs? The staff even made extra meals for my teenage son, who was a bottomless pit on this trip! Kudos to them! The afternoon we arrived, they brought him a multi course meal featuring a delicious chicken breast in a delicate cream /cilantro sauce that was outstanding. I know it was good because he was so impressed he let me try it. Yum! We are in the restaurant industry and my teen is studying to be a chef, but we found no fault with the cuisine here. Everything was spot on and service was wonderful. Meals at least for us, were served family style in a beautiful setting overlooking the canyon. Bar staff was very friendly too! The hotel's al fresco overlook into the canyon was a great place to mingle with others, take in the intoxicating vista, sip on a margarita, and watch the sun go down....We found this to be an enchanting place. I would certainly return and stay much longer to hike more of the canyon. No TV's here, which seemed to keep the focus on nature. That's not a bad thing for us but maybe others would find that unappealing. My son had fun juggling, chatting with adults and playing cards. A great place to explore nature and reconnect with your family and friends..cheers!
