Kinnitty is a beautiful village set in the very center of Ireland. It is a great base to explore Ireland from, being only an hour and a half drive from Dublin, Galway, The Cliffs of Moher, Kilkenny City and The Rock of Cashel. If you like walking there are many great walks in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Long distance if you want to walk for 3 days- The Slieve Bloom Way. Short loop walks near the village on the road to Mountrath.There is an annnual walking festival every May on the first weekend. It is near Lough Boor Parklands with it's magnificent Sculpture Trail. Leap Castle Ireland's most haunted castle is just 6 miles from the village. There are great traditional Irish music sessions on Wednesday nights in the local pubs either in Kinnitty or nearby Cadamstown. You can join in a song with the locals or if you play an instrument bring it along. You will be made feel very welcome
