“Heart of Ireland”

If your looking for a relaxing beautiful place to stay in the heart of Ireland the Ardmore House is it. I stayed 5 nights in this beautiful Victorian farmhouse and had wonderful stay. The rooms are big with great views of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The owner of Ardmore House- Christina Byrne is very knowledgeable of the area and
arranges walks through the Slieve Blooms if you wish. I look forward to my next stay.

Stayed March 2007

Ardmore House dates back to 1840 and the house is decorated in a period style with warm colors and antique furniture. The reaction of the majority of guests is that the house has a very homely atmosphere.TV and tea making facilities are purposefully not provide in bedrooms so that guests join together in the sitting room in front of an open peat fire to chat with me and other guests. Tea and coffee and home baking is provided when guests arrive and tea is offered regularly to guests during their stay.
As bed and breakfasts are usually a small family business the owner will have to be away from the house on occasion to do shopping etc as was the case when these guests arrived very early in the day. I usually ask guests to let me know their expected time of arrival so that I or in my absence my niece will be there to meet and greet them.
I was not away from the house overnight on either night of these guests stay and had other guests staying on both nights. I cooked an evening meal {by prior arrangement} for 2 guests on the Friday night - the 2nd night of their stay. I very much enjoy having guests to stay in my home and would live to spend all my time sitting and chatting with them but unfortunately that it is not always possible as I have chores to attend to such as baking answering e-mail etc..
Kinnitty is a very picturesque village with 2 pubs, 2 shops a post office. A fast food take away has opened recently in the village and the pubs open in the evening. The Dungeon Bar at Kinnitty Castle is open at weekends for dinner. There are many activities in the area. There are traditional music sessions locally on Wednesday nights to which I have taken many guests. Kinnitty is close to the Slieve Bloom Mountains where there are many mapped walking routes for which I can give directions and maps. It also quiet near Leap Castle Ireland's most haunted. I make every effort to help guests have a relaxing holiday while staying in my home and will endeavor to sort any problem they may have if it is brought to my attention.
