My partner booked a midweek break in Kinnity castle during the off season in November. As such the castle was very quiet. On arrival check in was great, the staff were very helpful and gave us a tour of the castle and brought us to our room. We were staying in the Finian Room. The room had a 4 poster bed and the decor was in theme with the castle. I ll admit the room could have done with a bit more upkeep, the carpets and hangings were faded and the plaster on the walls and ceiling were badly decayed in places, also there was no television in the room. Our neighbours had one as we happened to walk by when their door was open and seen it. The bathroom had a bath/shower and was nice. Again the furnishings were a bit dated though. We went down to the bar for dinner and a few drinks, as I said before it was very quiet and there were only a few American middle aged-elderly couples staying-probably for the Foliage!!! There was only one member of staff on in the bar and serving food in the neighbouring dining room. There was a bit of a delay waiting for our drinks but the staff member on duty was very helpful. The bar menu though not extensive caters to most tastes and me and my partner were both able to get something we liked plus desert. The food was was very nice and for 2 mains and 2 deserts we paid just under fourty euro. We stayed at the bar til about 11 then went to bed. Before coming to Kinnity castle I had no idea it was haunted-we only booked it because of a special offer my partner found online. As I lay in bed I remember I was very warm, but I had the covers over me completely anyway..as I lay there I kept getting the feeling of an ice cold breeze on my legs under the covers. This happended repeatedly for a few hours!!! And it was unusual because it was a mild night. I kept checking the covers for gaps but there was none. I ended up listening to my Mp3 til after 3 in the morning when I eventually dozed off. I kept the light on all night though as I had the feeling someone was looking at me and it un-nerved me completely. We had breakfast the next morning-again the staff were very helpful. Only complaint is that the toast was brought out 5 minutes before our breakfast and as such was stone cold by the time our food arrived. If I hadnt found out the castle was actually haunted I might have gone back..but now I know I dont think I will. If you love the countryside mixed with a bit of history/hauntings you ll love this place!!!
Room Tip: Ask for a non haunted room with a TV!!!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comments, We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at Kinnitty Castle Hotel. We pride ourselves on giving maximum customer care, even in our low season. You mentioned that no TV was in your room, we are currently upgrading all of our guest suites and will have TV's in all very soon, this will explain why the room next door had one, these upgrades also include refurbishments and repair to plaster work.
We do hope that for these reasons you will return to us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
