“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

The Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the airport but very quiet. Free parking.
Newly renovated with cosy and spacious rooms, well equiped and clean bathroom. The decor is minimal but the rooms are bright and airy.
The breakfast buffet is good but with limited choise. At the restaurant (a la carte) there is very good choise of food.
Very good location for a boat trip to the unique island of Mykines.

“Fine place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

Forget all reviews from before 2008 where this place was completely renovated.
The hotel is fine - nice rooms, nice modern furnitures, bathroom a bit small.
Service and attitude prefect.
Breakfast included as usual in the Nordic. Fine - the usual freshly baked breads and rolls, cheeses, cold cuts, soft boiled eggs - fine and delicious but not more than that.

Of course there is perfect, free, high speed WiFi internet all over and free computers in the lobby.

Room Tip: The rooms in the basement have the best views!!

“V expensive for what you get. But still, comfortable and location perfect.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

The hotel is a 5min walk to the airport (although if you had heavy luggage a long 5 minutes to drag it there!) and so location wise for an early morning flight you couldn't get any better. However, for the price you pay you'd expect more than what is essentially a basic room with small ensuite bathroom. The rooms are small, but comfortable and clean as is the bathroom. Ask for a view not looking out onto the carpark, and you can just see Mykines on a clear day (!). The restaurant on the other hand is more worthy of the price - delicious steaks (they also serve lamb, deer and fish) and good service, again pretty pricey but worth it. Breakfast consists of fresh breads and boiled eggs, and a small selection of ham and cheese. Get there early to avoid disappointment! Careful if you try to pay for the room with credit card - they will try to charge you a payment fee for the conversion to Danish Kroner. There was no mention of this at any time during our booking and so we were a bit disgruntled to hear when we checked out that on top of an already v expensive room we were asked to pay £7 - £9 more. Pay by cash to avoid this!

Room Tip: Ask for a room not overlooking the car park.

“Very nice hotel, close to the airport with very helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2010

This recently refurbished hotel is close to the Faroe Islands airport and so is handy when arriving or leaving the Islands. There are only a limited number of flights per day so the hotel is very quiet. The rooms are well equipped and clean. The food is very good and the staff could not be more helpful.

“Convenience plus.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2008

Stayed at this hotel on the first and last night of our week long trip on the Faroe Islands. So convenient to the airport and a base for looking around the island of Vagar. The carpark was big and level. The reception staff were efficient, neatly dressed and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were both very tasty and nicely presented. The dining room had the added advantage of watching close-up, the last flight departure for the day. Breakfast consisted of cereals, cold meats, eggs, rolls, jams and tea or coffee. Even when we left early on our final day, our breakfast buffet had been set out for us.

When you book your room (ours was No. 213) ask for one overlooking the field/meadow rather than one facing the carpark.
The double room was very clean and of a reasonable size. We had a separate bathroom with a shower recess, basin, toilet and somewhere to actully hang up your towel. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were also provided. The linen and pillows were lovely and fresh and everything else in the room worked efficiently and we were able to open the windows and let in some cool air. Believe it or not it does get warm in the Faroe Islands!!

  • Liked — Nearness to the airport.
  • Disliked — Dinner was a bit expensive.
