“Good hotel but that's all”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Stayed 3 nights. The hotel is like, inside a small shopping center.

The place is always clean, internet is not free but they give you a courtesy of 30 minutes in the business center. The first floor is the less nicer because there are the cheapest rooms. I recomend to take breakefast or dinner at Sanborns which is inside the shopping center but outside the hotel....this restorant is also typical around Mexico.

If you want to try regional meals you can go to Los Almendros. There is one in the hotel but I recomend the one downtown, just take a taxi and ask to take you there, everybody knows Los Almendros.

The city is very safe, people are so calm, there are always tourist walking around.

To see the sorroundings I highly recomend to rent a car. But is kind of weird to follow the streets...nearby you can reach the pyramids or maybe go and see the Flamingos.

“Good hotel”

This is a very nice hotel located close to the historical center of Mérida. The rooms are nice, but I have to give you the same warning as some other reviewers did : not all sheets are clean. I stayed alone in my room, so I had two beds to choose from. I checked the first bed and the sheets had stains, so I used the other bed with nice white sheets. I do not suspect them not to clean the sheets, but maybe they should use some bleach to get them really white. Anyway, the room was quite nice with a small terrace. Internet is not free and you pay per 24 hour period. It does not work the way one reviewer wrote, that it only counts the time you are logged in. It counts the time from the time you first log in, whether you use it or not. Wifi is quite pricey, something I think should be included in the price of the rooms. I stayed on the first floor and the internet connectivity was really poor. I had colleagues who stayed on other floors who had good reception. The restaurants are quite nice, but don't expect everyone at the hotel to be able to speak English. Even the small travel agency next to the lobby has staff with very rudimentary knowledge of the English language, which is kind of surprising given that this is a tourist hotel. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a range of food from standard American breakfast, more European style breakfast, fresh fruits and a selection of Mexican food.

Room Tip: If you need good internet connectivity, don't choose a room on the first floor.

“Good for business or leisure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Stayed here for two nights during a quick business trip to Merida. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Their internet connection speed was good. The gym was decently equipped. The lobby restaurants were very good, and the central location of the property made it easy to get around Merida. This is my second visit and it seems that they have improved since last year. Definitely recommend this place.

“it's a good value hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

ok it's a bit dated. The pool area is excellent (afternoon sun) and staff are very nice. The rooms are dated but the beds are comfortable. The hotel is a 4 star hotel but needs a re-firb. my company has some really great rates at this hotel and far less expensive than say the Hyatt. Also I like how all the rooms have balconies so if you are like me i don't like a/c. There is a charge for the internet which is the only real disappointment i can think of but i know this before i stayed here so wasn't an issue for me. Oh, the location is excellent and there is a OXXO store behind where you can buy very cheap meals, continental breakfast goods and bottled water. A also use room service and it was surprisingly very good and not too expensive with no hidden charges - excellent!

Room Tip: there are no real view rooms, just ask for a high one.

“Nickle and Dime you waaay too much”

We are here at a convention and the room is 1,700 pesos a night. It includes breakfast (excelent) but two things make me CRAZY!!
NO FREE INTERNET! 24 hrs. Costs about 17 dollars a day. And expires at the 24 hrs of the day! And then the WATER! they charge 40 pesos for a bottle of water. What?? If it were reasonable we would be drinking it from the hotel but we are able to cross the street to the OXXO (like 7-11) and buy the same bottle for 9 pesos.
So, I don't know other hotels in Merida if they charge or don't. But for a business hotel they should have FREE internet!!
