“You'll feel like you are in your own private paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Villa Rolandi, in Isla Mujeres is just a short yacht ride away from Cancun, but worlds apart in spirit. This is not a Spring Break resort, but rather, a well needed, relaxation and rejuvenation spot, very different from any vacation resort we have ever visited. Villa Rolandi has the ambiance of an intimate and yet sizeable inn.
We arrived at Cancun airport over an hour late, yet the driver that the hotel lined up for us was there and waiting for us, as was "The Cocoon" the hotel yacht. We were greeted by the most helpful and efficient Victor at the dock, where we were greeted with cooling face cloths and cooler mimosas. Checking in took mere moments, and we were escorted to our spacious, third floor junior suite.
Don't let the term "junior suite" fool you. We had a perfect view of the pool and ocean, a jacuzzi and breakfast spot on the terrace, a king sized bed under the bricked dome-like ceiling, stained glass windows over the patio door, AC and a ceiling fan, plenty of closet space, a sitting area with two sofas, and an extra large shower with four cross shower jets, two shower heads above, and a steam room jet. The surround sound music even played in the shower!
The beach, while small was beautiful, well kept and private. With only a limited number of guests, there was never a lack of beach chairs and umbrellas. The three pools were the same, plenty of chairs, plenty of personal space, and plenty of quiet. The beach/pool experience was only made better by the team of Sergio and Ariel. These two gentlemen attended to our every need be it food, drink or adjusting chairs and umbrellas. They anticipated what we might need even without ever being intrusive. Ariel even showed me a big blue crab that lives under the steps to the beach, pulling it out with his bare hands so I could get a photo!
The restaurant provided excellent (included) breakfasts either in our room or downstairs. I wish I had some of their French toast at home! The dinner menu was excellent and varied. We rarely ventured into town for a meal. The service was just as fabulous as the food. Even the poolside light lunches, salads, pizzas, and ceviches were above average.
Every employee of the hotel that we encountered treated us as if we were special. This is where the inn-like atmosphere was evident. If you are looking for a quiet, semi-private, excellent service type of hotel, with excellent food, this is the place! Thank you Villa Rolandi for a memorable vacation!!

“not as great as I expected.”

The service is friendly, and the restaurant is good. We did get a honeymoon suite upgrade, which was great. The jacuzzi didn't work but they were prompt to fixing it.
Breakfast was included.

I gave this only 4 stars because 15 months ago, I stayed in Cancun and was at the Ritz Carlton, which was way more superior. For a hotel that is considered a Luxury Hotel, I just expected much more. I often stay at the likes of Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton, and unfortunately, the quality of the food at the restaurant and the feel of the property was not to par. I think this place needs a renovation.

“Romance and Relaxation at Villa Rolandi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Having a 42’ yacht called The Cocoon waiting to pick you up and personally escort you to your luxury destination in the Caribbean is one amazing way to embark on a New Jetsetter style vacation. A stay at Villa Rolandi, tucked between a small crescent of shimmering sand and Makax Lagoon on Isla Mujeres, Mexico, is your ticket to this heavenly experience.

From the moment you step out of your limousine at Playa Linda, Embarcadero (about ½ hour from Cancun International Airport) and set foot on the Cocoon, you know you are in for something special. As you enter the Makax Lagoon, Villa Rolandi staff await on the dock, quick to greet you with cool facecloths and welcoming smiles. A few paces across the road, check-in is pleasant in the pretty open-air lobby after you are seated comfortably in the lounge with welcome champagne cocktails. Tension begins draining away as you realize you are in for a mind and body overhaul!

We booked the gorgeous Presidential Suite. Gleaming caramel and sand colored marble everywhere, picture windows soaring up to the open concept 2nd floor master bedroom, allowing the ocean to become part of your experience. The posh bedroom has an exquisitely comfortable king bed, the amazing view always only a blink away. The immense steam shower in the Master bathroom is so large, it is almost a destination in itself. A soaker tub and top of the line amenities make this one of the most inviting bathrooms ever. Best of all was the third floor private terrace.....

“Totally Totally Amazing”

This is probably the best resort we have visited in the world, the location, the view, the oh so helpful staff, the food was amazing, beautiful room comfortable bed. Divine cocktails.

From the cute folded elephant towel on the bed, to the hand baked bread with dinner, this place is just what you need when you are looking for something relaxing and friendly (and small), one of the best things was that it was not a huge resort, hence we always got a seat on the beach or by the pool and everything happened really easily.

They made us the most amazing dinner on the beach for my husbands birthday with the table set in a candlelit heart shape carved out of the sand.

Another highlight was the 8am snorkelling trip they organized for us, truly the most amazing fish bowl we have ever swam in. Turtles, rays, barracuda, octopus and thousands of stunning fish. Also snorkelled around the sculpture garden which is pretty amazing to see under the ocean.

I couldnt fault this place, from the luxury cruiser pick up from Cancun to the Tequila tasting in the bar, fabulous sunset cocktails in the Thalasso spa in the evening and Coronas and divine Guacamole on the beach at lunchtime - it couldn't have been more perfect.

Thank you so much everyone at Rolandi who made our holiday so special.

Room Tip: Ask to be on the 2nd or 3rd floor as the views are better from there.
