“Nice stay for a night or 2, and so close to the ruins!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My fiancee & I stayed here for 3 nights, which ended up being 1 day too long. It is a good place to stay for 1 or 2 nights. Nice rooms, nice bathrooms, decent food, friendly service, they also have a small library / pool table room which is nice since besides eating, drinking, and the chichen itza light show, there is not much to do there at night. But overall, a good stay. Restaurant and food is decent prices, too.

“Excellent location, better than expected: I recommend it!”

Beautiful hotel with garden, swimming pool, boutique....
Walking distance to the ruins, very convenient to go to the night show (don't forget to rent an audioguide if you don't speak spanish!).
Very nice atmosphere, friendly and professional staff.
We had a very good time, much better than expected: I was impressed!
Price for restaurant and room is fair.

“stop over at Chichen Itza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I am so glad we chose Villa Arqueologica Chichen Itza to break our bus journey from Cancun to Merida. The hotel is situated about a 5 minute walk from the back gate into Chichen Itza. This is excellent for catching the evening light show. Do catch a taxi from the bus drop off point to the Villa (there seemed to be a good number in the parking lot and we had no trouble acquiring one). The road goes around Chichen Itza and it would be quite dangerous as you share the road with tourist buses etc. You could pay your Chichen Itza entrance fee and drag your luggage across the site but that seems equally as nightmarish unless you’re a fit backpacker—unlike me. The taxi fare is reasonable and worth it. The hotel ensured that a taxi came for us in time to catch our bus to Merida the next day.
The excellent thing about this location was after dropping off our luggage we could spend the rest of the day exploring Chichen Itza at our own pace. Our ticket included the evening show.
Dinner at the Villa was enjoyable and the room was pleasing. There are other hotels in the area but really I liked the smaller, more intimate aspect of this hotel—and the price was right. The pool was great to cool down in and drinks poolside a bonus.
We didn’t use the meal plan but preferred the a la carte Mexican menu. I usually carry tinned fruit for breakfast for occasions such as this, my coffee plunger and travel kettle. During the day we bought something light over at the Chichen Itza eating area.
A good, inexpensive alternative that helps you enjoy your visit to Chichen Itza comfortably, without pressure.

“Clean, Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

We enjoyed our comfortable stay at the Villas Arqueologicas Chichen Itza. It was clean, safe, quiet and convenient. The pool was refreshing and it was easy to transition from pool mode to dinner mode since the room, pool, and restaurant were all in close proximity. The food in the restaurant was unique and good. The staff spoke English enough for us to properly communicate. Our toilet was tricky to flush, but it was not a major issue for us, we just jiggled the handle ourselves and never even mentioned it to the staff. The walk to Chichen Itza is short and safe.

“Great value - Best option in Piste/Chichen Itza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

5 stars for the value and charming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Good:
Property is gorgeous including the bar, courtyard and rooms. Great service. Cold beers at the bar are about $2. The food was great, some of the best we had in six cities we stayed in throughout the Yucatan. Highlights: Sopa de Lima and also the Chicken and Rice dish. Air conditioning worked. Safe worked.

Can't beat the location! Walk right into Chichen Itza. Ek Balam was far more impressive, but if you are going to Chichen, we loved Villas.

Bad:
Only downside is that I'm not sure there was enough hot water left for my husband.

Also, we saw a few other people were staying there, but didn't see much of them. It was a little lonely having the restaurant to ourselves.

Wear mosquito repellent. I didn't get any bites here, but saw plenty of mosquitos.
