I was a third year at Berkeley, and my friends and I were a bit hesitant about choosing a hostel in the downtown area. But now we are going back this summer. We stayed there Spring 2005. A maid cleaned everyday, there was free breakfast, and the couple that ran the place were very polite and helpful, even giving us a ride to the clubs at night. Theres a peaceful big terrace to relax in, very clean and modern. Don't worry, its a short busride away from all the nightlife in Cancun, and the area chac mool is very safe: at parque palapas we were by the elementary school, and GREAT cheap local food (why in the world would someone choose burgerking in cancun??) Even the prissy one liked it. The only bad thing about it is that its in the downtown area, and not on the beach. However, it didn't really matter since we were out and about. We spent the first half of the trip at ChacMool, and the second in the Sheraton just in case chac mool was a bad experience. I wish I could get my money back from the Sheraton. This is a good place if you're a college student traveling on a budget.
