“DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE!! BUYER BEWARE!”

Where do i begin...

- food was terrible - cold and old, and easy to make food did not taste the same - example: pancakes were disgusting!
- service was crap - bar closed at 10:30pm without even notifying anyone; they ran out of red wine the one night (so they say) and other requests they made they didn't have
- to go golfing on the resort it was $175! are you kidding? and it was not a premier course
- shuttle service to diff hotels was an extreme inconvenience since left every hour and was not timely when travelling - plus you had to visit the other hotels in the group since there was nothing to do
- tried to charge $60 for a face cloth that was worth less than $2 that had make up on it and was fine if they used soap and water
- Service was not very pleasant or accomodating

Anyone posting 4 or 5 star ratings for this place clearly has other motives. I've never posted a review before but was so disgusted and angry with this place i had to post to warn others.

....to say the least

Room Tip: Bed bugs! i had 15 bites over the 2 days i stayed there. We were booked for a week and it was so bad...

“Laguna Suites”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We traveled to Laguna Suites in early January 2012. This trip was the result of my wife purchasing a package over the phone for a good price. The package also includes accommodations in Orlanda at a later date. We aren't naive, and new this trip likely would involve a meeting/presentation with time share representatives at some point, who would employ their high pressure tactics to lock us into a payment we can't afford. I'll try to summarize the trip as best I can.

Airport Transportation was on time, friendly, and helpful.

Check-in went smoothly. Staff showed us the map and the locations of the other 3 resorts we had access to (Sunset Lagoon, Royal Sunset, and Ocean Spa). He explained the shuttle service to us, took our i.d. and credit card to get copies for incidentals etc. I found it interesting we couldn't get our key until we made our appointment for the presentation.

"Presentation" as per usual, the guy was friendly, explained we wouldn't be forced to buy anything and to keep an open mind. Ultimately, the whole presentation was within what I expected. I find it interesting all of the sales guys claim some sort of connection to where you live. Overall, the sales team gives you a real skeptical feeling. At one point, we were told we were done, but merely had to go through "quality control", which just ended up being a more experienced sales representative trying to use more high pressure. Ultimately, there was no way we were going to purchase at this point in our lives, or in this situation, but it took a long time for them to get that answer. The starting point is about $200,000, and then by the end they are down to a price of $4000. Seems like a great deal, but I wouldn't ever be comfortable giving these type of business tactics any of my money.

Transportation was part of our all inclusive and at check-in, we were told we had access to the free shuttle between resorts (there is only one restaurant at Laguna Suites, so we were counting on having free shuttle between resorts to access variety). We discovered on the first full day that the shuttle wasn't in service. We were told "maybe tomorrow", but not given a reasonable explanation. Nobody could confirm whether it was a maintenance issue or if the rumors they were shut down by the cab companies was true. In the end, the shady we were treated was the worse part (I understand things happen). At the end of the day, we didn't go between resorts as much as we would have liked and ended up spending about $60 on taxis. The City bus route isn't too far away (about 20 minute walk) and could have been used for less.

The food was delicious. We at most meals at Laguna Suites, and some at Sunset Lagoon. If you are considering whether to purchase all inclusive or not, be warned, there isn't much on the menu for less than $15 (including breakfast menu). The italian restaurant at Laguna Suites provide amazing service and delicious food. Service is also prompt. Laguna Suites being smaller, you certainly get your share of attention. The staff had no problem bringing our food over to the pool to snack on in the afternoons.

Rooms are spacious and kept clean. Only a few of the second floor rooms have a deck large enough to sit on and, others simply have a standing area. Most of the rooms are look out to the pool or golf course from the patio, and to parking lots and neighbouring properties out the back.

Overall, I say we got what we paid for. We met many others from Canada and the US. All at Laguna Suites it seems were there for the timeshare presentation. Once you get over the stress of dealing with the high pressure tactics, move on and enjoy your trip. Don't expect the shuttle to be working, so plan on taxis or city bus.

I booked this in a weak moment over the phone by an agent who sold me 10 nights for $700 on the condition I attend a "presentation". The day after I realized what I had done wasn't a dream I sat quietly and wondered how I was going to explain this one to my wife.

We arrived at 10:00pm Nov 20 the night staff checked us into the worst room on the first level. Thankfully the lock didn't work so they moved us to another first level room that was hardly any better. They then proceeded to fix the light bulb in the bathroom. After an hour of my wife and I laying on the bed starring at the ceiling waiting for maintenance to leave. I finally asked if they could return in the morning. It was midnight.

There were a whole bunch of problems with the first level rooms but the worst problem was the thick musty mildewy smell that after the second night i couldn't take it any more. The low ceilings, bolted shut windows, cold, clammy tile floors, made these rooms totally uncomfortable. (problems on first level: gross stench of mold, missing tv, broken fridge door (like hanging from one hinge) coffe but no pot, broken lock, broken fixtures, just bloody awful)

We politely asked to move upstairs where it was actually comfortable. The second level room was a 150% better, high ceilings windows and patio doors open to get cross breeze, no moldy stench, it even had a fresh bouquet of flowers. We didn't complain about anything and happily paid our bill and tipped our servers.

I could stay at this place but only on the second level but screw these guys. If they can't give us a decent bloody room in a more than half empty hotel in the first place then they can go pound salt.

Room Tip: Demand a second story room

“Love this place!”

My family loved the Laguna Suites Golf & Spa. The rooms were spacious and kept very clean. We didn’t mind that the TV is in the bedroom. We didn’t mind the small edge in the bathroom/shower floor to capture the water; there was virtually no water on the bathroom floor after a shower. We felt that the beds were comfortable and once we were settled, we slept great all week! Absolutely get the all-inclusive!

Every staff member (wait staff/bartenders/chefs/housekeeping) (Sergio, Andres, Christian, Edwin, Eduardo, Yolanda,Omar, Julio) was pleasant and genuinely happy to assist us with whatever we required. The food was very fresh and tasty. The menu didn’t change; however, there is more than enough variety. If you don’t see something on the menu just ask. It is likely the wonderful chefs can accommodate. (ie. Caesar salad, French toast, BLT sandwich.) By the way, the tiny kitty that roams around the property is skiddish and will not come to you unless you offer it food.

Oh yes, down the street is a laundromat that is run by Senora Soco (prounounced so-ko) and Senorita Dono (pronounced Deana) who will wash/dry/fold your laundry very professionally for a few pesos. We took our travel clothes to be laundered and picked them up the next day...it was perfect.

We want to make special mention about Jonathan, our concierge who greeted us upon arrival. He is a great guy, very friendly and helpful! He never forgot our names. Also, Carla, great job!

To wrap this long review up, I must say we were nervous about the whole experience at first, but absolutly no worries. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! We will definitely be back to visit.

Room Tip: Lower level rooms allow you to lounge in front of your room at night or anytime. Just have one of t...

Great food (avoid american options), great staff (hello Sergio, Andreas & Christian), quiet, secluded, only 45 rooms. Feels closer to a mexican getaway than the big bulky american style hotels the sister resorts offer. We were blown away by all aspects of our week stay. Cleaning staff is thorough and do their job well. Afternoon/Dinner restaurant staff far and above surpassed our expectations; attentive, friendly, welcoming, hard working. My girlfriend is a hotel manager in Toronto, and was thoroughly impressed by the level of service we received, the cleanliness of the rooms, food service, etc. The spanish/mexican options on the a la carte menu were fantastic. Highly recommend the Ranch Eggs breakfast, fajitas or stuffed chicken for lunch/dinner. Only drawbacks, wifi doesn't work, and there didn't appear to be a comprehensive drink list. Just ask to be surprised, and you'll get great drink service. Also, the concierge is really just a sales person for the time-share company. Better off going to the mall up the road to book any exploratory trips. Rooms were spacious, and comfortable. Resort staff was friendly, always smiling, and treated us very well. Sunset Time-Share Adventure clubs seems to dismiss this resort as their least attractive, but we can't understand why. They really aren't aware of what a great little gem they have on their hands. Yes, it's a half hour walk from the nightlife, but if you are more for relaxing than partying, this is the place for you. If you bought the one week deal with the Orlando option, and think you made a mistake, you didn't. Find a cheap flight and have a great time! (Also, don't book at Ocean Spa, we've heard nothing positive about that place).

Room Tip: Try and book on the second floor. First floor rooms access through a sliding patio door, where as th...
