I give this a four star rating for this things that were positive. This place is very clean, staff was very friendly, and the location as far as I was concerned was pretty good. It also is one of the lower cost all inclusive resorts in the hotel zone. Check in was a breeze and a friendly staff member went over all the details of the hotel. Granted at the end he signed us up for a tour of a sister hotel. I was onto his game and knew that at the end of the tour they were going to try and push a time share. The part that annoyed me the most is that he called our room several times to get us on this tour. Knowing what was going on I approached him, slipped him a ten and said that I wanted to be left alone for the rest of my trip. He got the message and we had peace for the rest of our time.
The food was decent but nothing to write home about. They did have a theme each night though I am not sure that they pull it off all that well. There idea of what certain foods represent are not the same as I would do them. They do have 3 stations that make food on the spot such as at breakfast they make omelets for you as you watch. I did ask for a milk one morning and it came back frothy and tasting strange so I did not take the risk with it. Otherwise I always found enough food to fill me up even if it was not the greatest prepared food.
The drinks flow as fast as you can consume them. They had many traditional drinks you would expect to find as well as a never ending supply of beer or so it would seem.
Our room faced the ocean and was on the top floor. We had a great view along with a spotless room. The bed was a little on the hard side but none the less it worked fine for us.
The pool is large and can accommodate a large amount of people. It appears to not be heated as the water always seemed to be cold. This could be because it is in the shade for the better part of the day. Though it is pretty large and covers several linked pools they all seemed to be 3 ft deep. I also was surprised to find out that it closed at 6:30 which seemed fairly early to me. I personally think it should have been open as a swim at your own risk to at least 8 or make it adults only after a certain point. The pool is also were the "entertainment" staff would put on activities. Usually as soon as they started we would find something else to do as the loud microphone would give us both a headache. I think the bingo was the worst of them all.
The beach was nice. We had red flags all four days we were there. This means swim at your own risk. That is all well and good but a life guard was there that kind of made his rules on what he thought you could or could not do. I understand they don't want people drowning but if you wanted to go into the water you could only go in were he was and only as far out as he wanted to let you go. There also were posted times but when he wanted to be done he would blow his whistle and motion everyone out. Even an hour before the posted time. We did find a few cool shells a few feet in the water but you did have to work at it some.
Every night they also have a themed show that is put on in there theater. This also had some high and low points. I really like the Mexican show, thought the Hollywood show was ok even though most of it had nothing to do with Hollywood, and totally wished I didn't waste my time with the comedy show (whole show is about making fun of random members of the audience).
Overall we enjoyed our stay and have no major complaints. It by no means is the 5 star hotel but if you factor in the low price it is a pretty nice place to stay.
