“Very nice room and location”

I was quite happy with the Hotel Los Arcos. We stayed two nights in a lovely two-story room just off the central patio. There was a king bed downstairs, and another un-used bed in a loft upstairs. The furnishings were nice, everything about the room was comfortable. The bathroom had a typical walk-in shower with good water pressure and hot water (give it a minute or two to heat up). The hotel had two codes for wi-fi...one for the lobby, and one for the patio. The patio code worked on my laptop in the room, which made me happy. The hotel is about 3 minutes dowhill from the compact and interesting main plaza. There are many shops on the streets leading off the plaza, without having to negotiate too many hills. It is possible to walk to the bus station, which is about 10 minutes downhill from the hotel....or a 30 peso taxi ride. I wouldn't walk uphill with luggage, however....if the cobblestones don't get you, the traffic on the narrow streets will. A great stay in a wonderful hotel

Walking through Taxco at 6 am every morning was like being back in the 16th Century. I stayed at Hotel Los Arcos which is located just off the Zocalo and certainly lives up to it`s name. I stayed in room 18 with a great view of the cobbled streets, I had a queen size bed, shower stall, plenty of hot water and clean fresh towels and linens every day. The staff are friendly and obliging and the owner is there most days and speaks excellent English.

Room Tip: Ask for a view.

“deserves top of list”

I moved to this hotel after fleeing the Emilia Castillo hotel because of the noise at the front and back of that hotel .
Los Arcos is slightly cheaper , much better value , it has spacious rooms , huge and comfortable beds , the building is lovely and has character and the staff welcoming .
The plasma tv screens are a welcome change from the tiny full of interference screens of the hotel mentioned above
I was not disturbed by television noise next door as that room was empty so i cannot confirm nor infirm one reviewer's comment on that , altogether i would recommend this hotel .

Room Tip: maybe choose a corner room so as to avoid being sandwiched between two tvs just in case one reviewer...

“Wonderfully quiet with an incredible courtyard.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

My wife, 9 year old son and I stayed here during a two day trip to Taxco from Acapulco. I'd checked out the hotel ahead of time and it lived up to it's promises as a 17th century convent. The rooms are arranged on three or so levels around a central courtyard with many stairways and landings leading to open halls to the rooms.

In one corner of the courtyard is a very old fountain with a large tree growing out of/around it. The sounds of the water are not masked by any street noise, silence reigns supreme. Their is also a pleasant reading/coffee room facing onto the street.

We stayed in a comfortable but spartan room on the second floor. Some rooms on ground level had been remodelled. There are several rooftop patios with view to make the stay worthwhile.

The hotel is 5 minutes from the main plaza by foot, but well separated by much of the bustle. Sasha restaurant accross the street is good for dinner, for brakfast we walked up to the plaza.

A wonderfully relaxing stay and introduction to Taxco for my wife and son. Recommended highly.

Room Tip: There are some refurbished rooms, we we facing over the roof tops - quiet.

“Beautiful building”

Hotel Los Arcos is a jewel. When you walk from the traffic and heat of the street into the quiet and cool patio, you can't help but think 'woaw'. It's a beautifully restorated building. The rooms are nice and clean. Service is friendly though nothing extraordinary. The location is good. All in all, this hotel is great value. Only minus is that they don't serve breakfast but hey, ho cares when you have plenty of good places to eat breakfast nearby.
