“Centrally located, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2009

Pros: It is in dead centre of the town - central plaza is only few steps away. The rooms were clean and staff very helpful.
Cons:If you get a room facing the street then it could be a bit noisy. The restaurant there is much pricier than anywhere else in the city so I would recommend eating out.
Otherwise a good choice for people who come to appreciate the local indigenous culture or nature. I would stay there again.

“Comfortable, centrally located hotel in the heart of the city.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2009

Nice place in the center of San Cristobal. The building looks historical but has been updated although the bedding and pillows were ancient. Nice restaurant with nice staff. A very nice breakfast is included.

“Nice cosy room - shame about the noise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2008

Nice cosy hotel very close to the centre of town. Room was simple but very tastefully decorated and furnished. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the in-house restaurant was very good (but expensive compared to cafes in town).
Only downside was that our room was very noisy at night with music being played at excruciatingly high volume somewhere nearby. To add insult to injury it usually began with Oh Yeah by Yello (really annoying song from the Ferrari scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off). Was never able to determine exact source but it was probably the bar just along the street.

“Lots of charm and character”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2007

We stayed at this little cosy hotel for couple of nights and had a fantastic time. The town is very atmospheric so is the hotel. It had lots of personal rustic-modern touches with a lovely colonial courtyard in vibrant turquoise-orange decoration and thoughtful details such as alcoves and modern plant pots.
The rooms were equally charm, though slightly small, and the bathroom again was full of character. Everything was spotless.
The best thing ever was the breakfast! A delicious buffet with plenty of choice: fruits, cereals and local delicacies (amazing ‘tamales’).
The hotel was definitely great value for money – although in this town you are blessed with choice! It was not luxurious but comfortable convenient and unique – not just a bland deja-vu big hotel.

“Small rooms but great courtyard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2006

We fell in love with the courtyard as soon as we entered the lobby of this hotel. It really is fanatastic, and a great place to sit and read or have a coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room itself was clean and comfortable. The main problem is, as other people have noted, the rooms aren't very private. Most of them are set around the lobby/courtyard and you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms and outside. I wore earplugs, so it didn't keep me awake, but it was a problem. The rooms are also quite small and dark. I imagine the couple of rooms set outside in the external courtyard might offer more privacy, so it would be worth checking those out.
The hotel is in a great location, right near the zocalo. I'd also highly recommend doing a tour to the neighbouring villages of Chemula and Zinacantan. We went with Raol, Alex and Cesear who are outside the cathedral every day at 9.30am and who have been mentioned in other reviews. It was one of the best tours I've been on. Cesear was very knowlegable about the place and people and it was a very rewarding and interesting experience. A visit to Na Blom house is also a great experience. We stayed on for dinner there one night, which wasn't cheap, but was delicious and worth every penny.
