“If only everything was like Casa Oaxaca!”

Casa Oaxaca is perfection through and through! We stayed there for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer.

The staff is dedicated, professional and kind. The inhouse restaurant is of very high quality (do not miss out on doing the cooking class - a memorable experience). Our room (no9) was clean, nicely decorated and perfectly placed on 1st floor over the courtyard.

Look no further; you want to stay at Casa Oaxaca.

“Spacious rooms, excellent service but overpriced”

My husband and I stayed in Casa Oaxaca for the weekend. The hotel is very well located, just a block away from the Santo Domingo church and three blocks away from the zocalo. The house is beautiful. It has a beautiful terrace in the middle and the rooms go around the terrace.
The rooms are very big and spacious. The design in the rooms is beautiful and are very clean. The pillows are not very comfy though.
The service is amazingly nice. I think it has been the best service we've had in a long time in a hotel.
The hotel's noise is moderately loud. The crew starts doing a lot of cleaning and prep early in the morning by the terrace so no sleeping late!
Breakfast was included in our fee. We could eat whatever we wanted from the menu. The food is very tasty and the bread they give is delicious.
Overall, the hotel is a five star place to stay at. However, I still think that it is a little bit overpriced. It basically costs the same or a little bit more than Camino Real which is a Mexican hotel chain very well known because of its service and high end facilities.

“Perfection!”

We spent a week at Casa Oaxaca back in April as part of our Honeymoon and it was possibly the best hotel experience that I have ever had. At Casa Oaxaca the emphasis is on elegance and it has this in abundance. Housed in a beautiful one/two storey colonial building; sparkling white and punctuated with artwork and foliage of various types. Most of the rooms face onto the main courtyard that doubles as the restaurant.

The rooms are vibrant, yet understated and very spacious and airy. The windows at the back of our room looked out onto the other courtyard which houses the swimming pool. The heart shaped pool is sufficiently big for swimming and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves every morning!

Breakfast is served in the main courtyard restaurant every morning and you can choose what you want from an extensive menu. No buffet here and breakfast is complimented with full waiter service. The fresh fruit platter is a thing of beauty and the cinnamon spiced hot chocolate was at the top of my list every morning! We also had dinner in the restaurant one of the evenings. We were the only customers that evening, which was a bit disconcerting initially. However, we soon relaxed and had a splendid and very reasonably priced three course dinner.

The service was impeccable throughout our stay from the chambermaids to the waiters and hotel manager. Everything is done with subtlety and discretion. There were also lovely little touches like a chocolate left by the bedside every evening after the turndown service.

As hard as I try, I cannot fault this hotel or recommend it enough.

“Beyond expectations....”

We have heard/read about Casa Oaxaca for years, and although we have visited Oaxaca several times, this was our first stay at C.O. We were there 5 days, after a couple of weeks on the coast at Puerto Escondido, and it was exactly what we needed. The hotel is quiet and relaxing. The staff are wonderful.. professional, helpful, knowledgeable, relaxed...Our room was lovely (and huge), and the food was the best we had in Oaxaca. (including better than the partner restaurant, Casa Oaxaca which always gets more press..). The same executive chef but a different menu using local ingredients and new incarnations of traditional Oaxacan flavours...the chef and her team at the restaurant were incredible.
The pool was a real asset as the temperatures were unseasonably high when we were there. The drinks were amazing. (my husband is still trying to perfect the cucumber mescalini that he was smitten with)
We would definitely stay again, can't wait to go back, and wish we were there...we love Oaxaca and the people.

Room Tip: Courtyard rooms may be noisy if an event happenig

“Great location, beautiful design, amazing breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2011

We stayed for three nights at Casa Oaxaca and loved it.

It was a fantastic location, with great staff that were friendly, attentive (without being overly so) and took an interest in your travels. (ie. Everything a great boutique hotel service should be). The pool was a great haven after hitting the streets of Oaxaca or Monte Alban. The design was exceptional and we loved the courtyard area.

A real highlight was the food - of an evening we started each night with Guacamole, Cheese and Margaritas (amazing!!!). Breakfast was always a highlight with the Hot Chocolate to die for. Seriously good! A would highly recommend a candlelit dinner on the upstairs balcony. Very romantic and sensational views over Oaxaca and under the blanket of stars. We visited the Casa Oaxaca restaurant and found the food better here.

The only issue could be noise in your rooms if there was a wedding in the courtyard or something but we did not have that. We had zero complaints from our stay and numerous positives!

I wish I was back there now!!!
