“Just what we were looking for”

We spent a very enjoyable week at La Casa de Dona Ana. The apartment was extremely clean, well appointed and decorated in such a colorful way. It is an easy and interesting walk to the center of town. This was probably the best equipped and supplied apartment we have ever stayed in. It would be ideal for a long term visit. The bed and seating are quite comfortable. Although not included in the photos, there is a beautiful, large tiled shower in the small, but adequate bathroom. The rest of the photos on the website match perfectly with the apartment. Thank you Mike and Ana for offering for offering such a wonderful and beautiful place to stay.

“Comfortable, with all the amenities”

The Candalabra suite is immaculate and charming, nicely decorated with Mexican folk art, and convenient to buses, taxis, shops and restaurants. It's not a long walk to the historic center, and it always felt good to get back to the apartment. I saved some money by cooking breakfast and dinner, and was happy with the all the appliances and equipment in the kitchen. The cell phone, laundry facilities and computer were quite useful, and set these suites apart from others you might rent from different hosts. There is a lovely view of the city from the roof.

“Truly comfortable, congenial and such reasonably priced suites!”

The suites were beautifully furnished with local decorations and artifacts, making the visit feel like an authentic Mexican experience.. Everything was available for cooking, doing laundry, connecting with wifi, TV; so well thought out, all the comforts of home plus a fantastic view from the rooftop terrace overlooking the city. The suites are located a 15 minute walk from downtown. Our hosts could not have been more genial and available. Guanajuato is a fascinating city and Mike provided very helpful information on their website for getting oriented to the historic locations. The city has a long, rich heritage and walking around is safe, day and night, for exploring. Taking inexpensive taxis is also an option.

The Mexican people were were so hospitable and obviously proud of their culture. We met people of all generations and found especially the young people were willing to share their heritage. Mexico and the city of Guanajuato are so complex and interesting, they deserve more time than we had to really experience everything. I recommend this destination to anyone who loves to travel and who has an inquisitive mind.

Room Tip: The top floor of the suites has a skylight, and windows that open on all sides to provide the best v...

“Gracious Hostes, Delightful Accommodations.”

My sister and I stayed last September 2010 at La Casa de Dona Ana. This was our first trip to Guanajuato, Mexico. What a Beautiful City. Her mining background make it so different from others cities we have visited before. There is so much history lo learn and appreciate, its people are friendly and helpful.
One of the best parts of our stay in Guanajuato was our accommodations.
I found La Casa de Dona Ana in the internet. The location is very convenient, we could walk to downtown, and visit many of the attractions in town. Dona Ana and her husband, were very gracious hostes, they were always there in case we had any questions. And at the same time, it was like they were not there, so we could have that feeling of privacy.
Their place is Beautifuly decorated. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Dona Ana prepared delicious meals, and we enjoyed drinking coffee and conversation with her and her husband. Thank you for the memories.
Bertha Alicia from California.

“Perfect place to stay at an unbeatable price!”

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Alhóndiga House for 9 nights in the middle of June and it was perfect. The house was well kept, quiet, and had everything you would need including a huge rooftop terrace with an amazing view! Mike even met us at the end of the alley to help us find the place at 1:00 am! Half way through the week they sent a cleaning lady to spruce up the place. My boyfriend was in town for a conference and when he talked to other people at the conference (who were staying at nearby hotels) they were very jealous of where we were staying. Also, since he was busy with the conference most days I spent a lot of time alone and felt very safe in this location. It's only about a 7 minute walk to the city center and I felt comfortable exploring on my own (through the day and even early evening). We don't have a single complaint about the place and if we're ever lucky enough to be visiting Guanajuato again there won't be a moments hesitation in staying at La Casa de Dona Ana again. Thank you!
