“Nice stay at the Regente Hotel”

This hotel is a solid 3-star. Small rooms, but quite comfortable and always clean. There are ice machines in every floor. A very nice breakfast buffet is served every day. The hotel is very conveniently located, next to Reforma and Insurgentes, two of the most important avenues in Mexico City. It's a 5 minute walk to Zona Rosa and a 15 minute walk to the Zocalo. You'll find many interesting monuments and historic buildings on your way to either place. A 5 minute bus ride can take you to Chapultepec Forest and also to the National Anthropology Museum (a must-see!). A short taxi ride may take you to Polanco for dining, which I recommend... there are lots of good restaurants on that zone. The staff at the Regente is very friendly and attentive. They make an effort to make you feel comfortable. All in all, a very good value for relatively low fares. I recommend this hotel for people who basically need a place where to rest after touring all day long.

“Extremely Good Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2006

The hotel is centrally located close to the intersection of Reforma and Insurgentes. The rooms were comfortable, and clean and an excellent breakfast buffet is served. It is about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Metro, and about a 20 minute walk to the Bellas Artes, and another ten to the Zocolo.

The service desk is very helpful and always willing to give directions and information

I highly reccommend this hotel and have told many friends about it.

“Good basic hotel for non-Spanish speakers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2005

Stayed in Aug 05. Room basic but comfortable. Airconditioning a bit noisy. Hotel safe in the room. No bar fridge but ice machine on each floor and fresh bottled water each day. Restaurant attached very good and relatively cheap (for a hotel restaurant). There was always at least one English speaking staff member at desk and in restaurant, so knowing no spanish was not a problem. The hotel is 45 minutes stroll from the historic centre/zoccolo.

“Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2003

We were supposed to stay in the Holiday Inn Zocalo, but however there was a major strike going on that day and we were unable to enter the Zocalo. Our cab driver recommended Hotel Regente and we were very pleased that he did. It is a nice hotel, a little older, but very nice and very clean. The staff was incredible! We asked to move rooms because they were painting next to ours and we were able to move right away to a different floor. They even put us in a bigger room. Then, we asked for more towels, and they were actually brought right away. We are a type of family that really appreciates this, especially when all of the other hotels in Mexico that we have stayed at refuse to bring our things at any reasonable time or even at all. The receptionists were great, bellboys were so helpful and nice. The restaurant was delicious. We ate there for lunch and we had their buffet breakfast. It is kind of a long walk from here to the Zocalo, but if you are in good shape, and a good sport, the walk will be a fun time since you pass many important monuments on the way. It is also very close to the Zona Rosa, another popular place in Mexico City. The rooms were very appropriately priced. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
