“A little piece of paradise”

My husband and I recently spent three days at Aticama Bed and Breakfast near San Blas. We are recently retired and thoroughly enjoyed the laid back life style of this area. We traveled by bus from the airport in Puerto Vallarta--it dropped us off and picked us up again right in front of the property. We enjoyed walking the lovely beach for miles. The garden was beautiful and we spent a considerable amount of time just relaxing, reading, chatting, etc. in the hammocks and lounge chairs. The sound of the ocean waves lull you to sleep at night along with the refreshing breeze. The sheets and bath towels were luxurious. Huge beach towels were provided. Wonderful breakfasts were served outside on the patio. One morning we had to leave at 6:00 for a birding expedition and Ken very graciously fixed us breakfast at the unimaginable hour of 5:30 a.m. We told him he could just leave some fruit out but he insisted on nourishing us properly. We did go in to San Blas one evening however we much preferred to walk to the nearby traditional Mexican town of Aticama. There were several good places to eat--Ken & Sheila will help you out with recommendations. During the day local vendors sell ice cream, bakery goods, etc. on the beach right in the front of the inn. If you are looking for action and nightlife this is not the place for you but we felt we could have easily spent a week there. Ken and Sheila are the perfect hosts!

“Loved the Aticama B & B”

The Hosts are amazing. Sheila is a wonderful cook and the coffee is superb. It is great to have hosts that have lived in the area for quite a while and are so familiar with the people and the customs. The rooms were spacious and RIGHT on the beach. If you dont like that sound of waves, lazing the day away in a hammock or walking on one of the most pristine beaches in the area, than this place is not for you. It is in a very quiet area and is not anywhere near a resort. If you are looking for an adventurous get away in the heart of what Mexico really is than this is just up your alley. Ken suggested the jungle tour ( La Tovra i think, you MUST go with Abraham. If you like birding or Crocs, he the best and will point everything out to you) and what a great experience. El Cora falls are about 45 min away and besides the beautiful beach, the falls were my favorite. The food and the people are truly authentic. The grounds at the B & B are like a botantical garden. I dont think I have ever seen so many palms and flowers. The rooms are seperate from the main house so you may come and go as you please witout distrurbing the other guests. You can choose to leave through the back gate and head down the beach or through the front if you brought a car. The bus stop is right out front so a car is not necessary. The bus runs from PV to the B &B 3 times a day ( If I am remembering correctly)
