“Agree, do not stay!”

We arrived after a cruise to be greeted by the hotel clerk who tried to say we did not have an inclusive stay. WRONG! It said so in English and Spanish. He merely was trying to get more money out of us.
The first thing we saw when we entered our room: 1.5" dead cockroach on the floor. The beds were horrible, old, smelly. The bathroom had old horrible towels and no face cloths or bottled water, no shampoo and NO covers to the eletrical outlets or the light above the sink.
The tub was old, dirty and the sink was worse.
Food was not bad. The beach was filled with armed security but it did not stop the contant badgering by the "vendors" who roam the beach. We had to leave because we couldn't even close our eyes for a second without someone asking us to "buy".
Back to our room, we felt trapped. Someone came into our room unannounced while we tried to rest!
Even on the eleveth floor and windows closed and locked, we felt like we were in the middle of insanity with all the blasting car and truck horns on the street outside the hotel. This goes on night and day.
The phone rang twice in the night but we have no idea who it was.
The hotel clerk refused to make a local call for our car back to the airport.
If it were not a Sunday, we would have made our travel agent get us out of there. It was awful!

“Avalon Excalibur”

Avalon Excalibur is a nice hotel, actually the first hotel on the well known Zona Dorada area. It is a good hotel but nothing fancy, nor expensive and luxury. There is a relatively small pool usually fool with childrens, depending on the time of year. There is also a smaller pool for adults from where you can admire the Acapulco bay beach.
The food was fair, again nothing really exclusive, an common all inclusive resort. The staff gave us a ocean view room situated on the upper floor which we liked very much. The view is incredibly nice. Overall a good hotel, but would try another one next time I go there.

“Great beach and food but old building”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

I spent just 3 days at this beach resort through an all inclusive package and globally I can say this is a good option for young single travelers or couples.
Facilities are rather old and sometimes waiting for the lift can take lots of time, rooms are old fashioned, but you can get good views of the bay from there.
At the restaurant, food is acceptable, offering a range of dishes based on local resources which let you know a bit more about the way locals eat.
The staff is always helpful, nevertheless they always expect you to tip them, in spite of the fact that your all inclusive package is supposed to cover tips and that sort of expenses.

“All Inclusive does not mean All Inclusive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

We booked a last minute 4th of July trip to Acapulco and booked using Expedia. The Hotel was the Avalon Excalibur Acapulco. It was rated 3 stars by Expedia. We paid an extra $400 dollars to have it be an All Inclusive package, but when we arrived at the hotel we found out that their All Inclusive is only partially inclusive. They only had one buffet and they had the same three meats everday with different sauces. Their snack bar had burgers, hotdogs and fries. The same food was offered every single day....No Variety.....Thank goodness we aren't vegitarian otherwise we would have had bigger issues. We don't drink much. My husband decided to get a drink at the bar. He was given a drink menu and told he could only order from the small list of drinks on the bottom left of the menu. This was one of many issues we had with the hotel. It was old, the staff was not very happy to help. Carmen at the front desk was nice and helpful, and Carlos the elevator attendant was also really nice, other than these two people all others were forgetable....

“Exceptional place to stay on a fabulous beach.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2010

An excellent hotel to stay and right on a wonderful beach. Very clean and the staff were so helpful and willing to help with any question you may have.
Restaurant has excellent food and easy to walk to various small shopping stores. Many families stay with children. Would certainly be going again.
