I had a great stay at this hotel. Let's talk about the good and the bad:
- The good:
The overall service. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The waiters at the restaurants, the bar tenders and the general staff were kind, even when they aren't directly tipped by the guests.
No salesmen "attacked" us. I've read in other reviews about the sales people constantly approaching the guests to sell them shared-times. As I went with a friend and no kids, maybe we weren't a target of these guys (they are more keen on approaching family groups).
Food availability. We took a nap on Saturday's evening but we overslept and opened our eyes at 1:00 am, starving as we missed the dinner. I asked the operator to give me a pizza or sushi delivery service, and she told me that at the Bahia Restaurant you could enjoy cold snacks like salads and baguettes from 12:00 to 5:00 am. We went to the restaurant at 2:00 am and found ready-made ham & cheese baguettes, croissants filled with tuna, hot chicken soup, fresh salads and desserts. Loved that.
- The drink brands. I expected to see in the unlimited beverage plan, cheap brands but I got surprised when relatively good brands were served. Even when they aren't high quality ones, they were reasonably good: Vodka Smirnoff, whiskies like Ballantine's, Passport and JB, brandys like Terry and Bacardi and Appleton rum. The tequila they serve is Jose Cuervo Especial, but can request Tradicional which is a very good tequila brand.
- The bad:
Nothing to really complain for. The hotel is built in the mountain, so you have to take lots of elevators and stairs to get to the rooms, and it's easy to get lost. It's far from the downtown, so you have to take a taxi to move to almost everywhere in Acapulco. We knew this before, so it's just something worth to mention. The beach is private and very small, so if you want a larger piece you have to move to the public beaches far from the hotel.
When you check out at 12:00, the only hotel area where you can stay, is the lobby. You have no access to the bar, so it's pretty boring to wait there. If your flight departs on the afternoon or night, you can leave your stuff with the bell boys at no charge and take a taxi ride to the downtown or to any shopping mall and then go back to the hotel to pick up your goods.
In summary, you get a little more than what you pay for, and it's a great choice if you intend to stay at the hotel most of the time.
