“Great relaxing place...even with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Staff for the most part go above and beyond making sure your needs are met. We did have a few issues with some one or two waiters at the buffet, but think this may be due to language barrier. Even though tips are included...will get you far by tipping a few extra pesos.... Food was good...especially the Italian restaurant. Just make sure you make your dinner reservation as early as possible as it fills quickly. Drinks were great....had top shelf names you dont expect at an all inclusive. Looking forward to going back in a few months!!! Kids loved it.
Also, only resort with private beach in Acapulco...

Nice spot to chill. Room was well kept clean and fresh. Nice views from all areas of the resort. Staff was friendly through out the resort. If you have a mobility impairment this place might not be for you as there are a lot of steeps. Not much of a night life here just a nice quite place. The A LA CART is just OK, the buffet is good but could use a little more variety.

“Excellent Resort Experience at a Fantastic price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

We are not all inclusive people, and prefer to stay at small locally owned hotels and guest houses, but at the end of a tour through Mexico decided to splurge and just plant ourselves in the sand for a few days.

The food was really great and very fresh with a lot of different selections and total variety from meal to meal. The staff was excellent. On Friday night they had a Asian theme with Sushi and Pad Thai along with Mexican dishes and Continental fare. The staff really appreciated that we spoke Spanish to them even though most were probably fluent in English (or fluent enough to do their job). There were so few gringo at the resort while were were there that the staff was perhaps too eager to practice their English.

The resort was very well maintained. The gardens were lush. Everything was working well. The beach was very safe for children and the nice thing is that there were no traveling sales people selling hammocks, coconut carvings, hair braiding, etc. . . The pools were great. The rooms were very well laid out and spotlessly clean.

The kids club feature was nice, but underused, which was a disappointment to our daughter. Sometimes she was the only participant for the scheduled activity. Our daughter was super excited about the treasure hunt on the beach, but the kids activity director must have had something better to do, because it never happened.

Resort was quiet at night. No nearby discos to keep the rhythm bumping all night long.

Finally, the price was excellent, at $200/nt and our six year old was free. Tips were INCLUDED!. Beware of the taxi rates from the hotel, which are twice the regular price.

“A good hotel with great quality-price relationship”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

I had a great stay at this hotel. Let's talk about the good and the bad:

- The good:

The overall service. All the staff was friendly and helpful. The waiters at the restaurants, the bar tenders and the general staff were kind, even when they aren't directly tipped by the guests.

No salesmen "attacked" us. I've read in other reviews about the sales people constantly approaching the guests to sell them shared-times. As I went with a friend and no kids, maybe we weren't a target of these guys (they are more keen on approaching family groups).

Food availability. We took a nap on Saturday's evening but we overslept and opened our eyes at 1:00 am, starving as we missed the dinner. I asked the operator to give me a pizza or sushi delivery service, and she told me that at the Bahia Restaurant you could enjoy cold snacks like salads and baguettes from 12:00 to 5:00 am. We went to the restaurant at 2:00 am and found ready-made ham & cheese baguettes, croissants filled with tuna, hot chicken soup, fresh salads and desserts. Loved that.

- The drink brands. I expected to see in the unlimited beverage plan, cheap brands but I got surprised when relatively good brands were served. Even when they aren't high quality ones, they were reasonably good: Vodka Smirnoff, whiskies like Ballantine's, Passport and JB, brandys like Terry and Bacardi and Appleton rum. The tequila they serve is Jose Cuervo Especial, but can request Tradicional which is a very good tequila brand.

- The bad:

Nothing to really complain for. The hotel is built in the mountain, so you have to take lots of elevators and stairs to get to the rooms, and it's easy to get lost. It's far from the downtown, so you have to take a taxi to move to almost everywhere in Acapulco. We knew this before, so it's just something worth to mention. The beach is private and very small, so if you want a larger piece you have to move to the public beaches far from the hotel.

When you check out at 12:00, the only hotel area where you can stay, is the lobby. You have no access to the bar, so it's pretty boring to wait there. If your flight departs on the afternoon or night, you can leave your stuff with the bell boys at no charge and take a taxi ride to the downtown or to any shopping mall and then go back to the hotel to pick up your goods.

In summary, you get a little more than what you pay for, and it's a great choice if you intend to stay at the hotel most of the time.

“What We Expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

Wife and I stayed at Park Royal August 22 – 28. This was our 2nd getaway this year (first was southern Caribbean cruise) so we were looking for something a little less expensive than the cruise, but out of the hurricane zone in order to take advantage of sunshine and beach. Read lots of reviews before going so we felt comfortable with what we were getting in to. As it turned out, Park Royal wasn’t too bad and pretty much what we expected. The staff was for the most part friendly and accommodating, especially Hugo who went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Even those that didn’t speak English well would smile and say hello. Our room was on the back side and away from the pools and as a result was pretty quiet which we liked. The room was sparsely furnished with two twin beds, tv, table and one chair. The ac worked well. Only complaint was the sink was slow to drain, but it was fixed promptly upon my request. My wife also requested additional hand towels and after overcoming the language barrier they were provided. The food was okay and a bit monotonous after a couple of days. They always seemed to have the same things for breakfast and lunch, but there was a fairly good selection to choose from. Best thing I had was the fish. Wife did not like the food presentation at the El Pescador Restaurant. This is the outdoor restaurant where lunch is served. Most of the salads and cold selections were left uncovered and the flies were enough to keep us from eating any of it. However, we did order the fried fish from the kitchen and it was good. Many of the lunch buffet selections turned up on the dinner buffet disguised as something else. The La Trattoria Restaurant requires reservations and we had dinner there one night. Wife did not care much for her Italian dish, but once again I had the fish and was quite satisfied. Park Royal did have a few pool activities (basketball, volleyball) in the afternoon, but if you wanted to do something at night you had to take a taxi into town. The drinks were good even though the most recognizable spirits were rum and tequila. The beach area is small and a little rough. You can rent jet skis or rides on a banana boat, or do as we did and spend the afternoon in the pool and at the pool bar. Overall this was a pleasant vacation with few surprises and nothing that was unexpected. We did talk to a few others who had problems with their room and after a hard rain one night they had to move because the ceiling leaked. As it turned out the room they moved into had an unbearably hard bed, so they moved again. We all laughed about it in the lobby late one night over drinks.
