X-Mas New Year 2010-2011 2 weeks and last week of Februray 1st week of March 2011; 4 weeks spent last year bring our total visits to the Emporio Acapulco for us to 7 visits.
We've now booked once again for another 2 weeks on January 4 for 2 weeks and again plan for another 2 week stay in late February.
Whay else can I say that I havent in my previous reviews except that the Emporio only gets BETTER!
Hotel Impressive in design, best and largest ocean front property with Cabanas and a bar on the beach, room clean well appointed and mattresses great for my bad back, bed turn down every night, all staff from "Room Manager" Carlos Leone, Enrique Dining Room floor manager, to server extraordinare "Pablo" ,housekeeping staff and so on are immpecable, attentive, professional, efficient and happy. Back grounds lush treed with birds turtle pond and 3 pools always with poolside seating available, location great hustle & bustle of the Costera out front Garden Paradise in the back.
Food is very good and certainly the best of all hotels in the Golden Zone from the Main Dining ro0m Condimento both buffet and Ala Carte to the poolside restaurant/snack bar "their Burgers are a must try" They also have a luxe beach front Fusion relstaurant albeit beautiful the food isnt my favourite.
Cosnstantly improving now with poolside cushioned and draped mattressed Cabanas. Complimentary coffee "Beautiful silver and gold coffee urns" and pastries every morning on each floor.
I missed my X-mas tree and Christmas celebration at home so this year its early January. I must say that the Fireworks on New Years eve over Acapulco Bay are the most spectacular Ive ever wittnessed. Also large beach front parties, at a reasonable price, available for guest and non guest alike. Nice higher class affairs. I however settled for Firewoks and a Romantic meal on the balconey with its 180 degree view.
Ive stayed at other "comparable star rated" hotels on the Costera and take my word for it Nothing Else Compares! Likewise weve visited and viewed all other hotels and again none compare. Im amazed that others such as the Crowne Plaza are even gouped together "star rated" with the Emporio? They are fine but not in the same league as the Emporio in all respects.
Given the bad press on Acapulco violence we've never encountered even an arguement happen let alone physical violence and I travel the inner city exstensively usually during the day/early evening.
Like any other major city in a foreign country common sense should prevail as to when and where you go especially if your a Clubber/Late Night reveller.
The Mexican people are respectful, family orientated, and very very Happy.
As for the beach hawkers, many arey oung kids, they always respect a No and quite frankly show the industrious side of the peoples and their culture. Buy something and just be happy most items are inexpensive and help support the kids.
The Old Town is a great area to explore and the Zocolo is relaxing in the day and bustling and safe in the evening. Also some very good Restaurants in the Zocolo and adjoining streets. Great evening fish & seafood lunch & dinners
The hotel and grounds are clean in fact impecable.
To sum it up go to the Emporio you wont regret it and the peoples of Acapulco will make u feel secure and happy.
Counting down the days until Im back at my home away from home.
