“Nice but no cigar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We stayed here for 9 nights and by the end of our trip were ready to go home. Everything was good, but nothing was exceptional. The best part of the trip was that the flight was just three hours! THREE HOURS. AWESOME.

We had fantastic weather the entire time we were there and that was perfect. No rain, no clouds, not even a day under 80*F.

The room, while bright- was sparsely decorated. Some wicker. It was not like a Fairmont in the States. However it was clean and that is the most important element. There was no wifi in the room which was second-rate . When on vacation, we turn off our cell phones, but we do check in via email.

We had an ocean front suite, which was huge. It had an enormous patio which we used daily for breakfast. My husband is a breakfast kind of guy and he enjoyed having oatmeal and French toast while enjoying the view. Me? A strong cup of coffee and I was fine.

The pool is by far the best feature with its beach entry. They truly put a lot of thought into its design. There are a lot of waterfalls, and birds such as peacocks and flamingos tooling around. We would get there early and snag a couple extra to create a buffer zone.
The beach was better in theory than concept- unless you like being hounded to buy something. We don’t. The hotel sits on a beautiful stretch of sand but unfortunately it is public so there are people peddling everything from hair braiding, to silver rings, ice cream bars and phone cards. After a quick walk around the beach we never went back.

The biggest distraction is the nigh club. It appears the use a lot of bass in their speakers and it reverberated thru out the resort- all day and all night.

One day we took a walk to the local Price Club. It resembled a Price Club that could have been anywhere. They let us in to shop with our membership card from home but we noticed they had daily rates for visitors as well. Great idea for tourists. When leaving the parking area we noticed 3 armed security guys on the roof of the Price Club with AK 47’s.

The Princess has a high wall around their compound with glass shards along the top. Although its efficiency at keeping bad guys out is yet to be rated, it was a demonstration of true labor. and we enjoyed looking at it.

Room Tip: Ocean front is the way to go

“Location great, rest ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

This is an ok place. The greatest thing it has going for it is the location. Revolcadero is by far the best beach in Acapulco. The view is amazing since the sun sets on the ocean. Then service is mediocre. The lady at the front desk, could not find the reservation under any combination of our names and basically was ready to send us away. After looking for it in my tiny phone screen I managed to find a confirmation number and voila! she found it in 5 seconds and it had the right name. Then she said it did not include breakfast (we had a prepaid promotion with breakfast) and instead of trying to found out told us to prove to her that it included breakfast. Just not the attitude you expect in a hotel
The biggest pain point is beach shades/chairs/beds, one would guess the hotel policy is to manage costs by imposing scarcity. I went down to the beach at around 11am everyday and it was absolutely impossible to find a place to lie down and read. They have plenty of space but simply don't have the equipment. Result, people come down at 8am, put a towel to "reserve" 5 seats for their whole family and go back to their room before really coming to use them 3 hours later. You even have to haggle with personnel for a second beach towel

Room Tip: Some rooms are much closer to elevators/main lobby but they have music until late night

“Love it! I can't wait to stay there again!”

This is a nice hotel. Has everything you need, 4 pools (1 salt water), nice beach, good food, large bedrooms. The scenarios are amazing, they even have two flamingos and some peacocks.

Location: Excellent! People just want to be at Princess' Beach. Plus it's near to La Isla Shopping Mall.

Service: Very Good! At the reception the service it's excellent, but at the pools it's slow and not so friendly.

Overall: I can't wait to stay there again!

“Worlds worst fairmont”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011
1
person found this review helpful

This has to be one of the worst five star hotels in the world. 40min queue to check in and when I reached the front there were no rooms available (I had prepaid and in was 5pm). Eventually I got a noisy ( they turn the music down only after 11pm) room with two small beds. Expect to pay absurd fees for everything (gym, parking, Internet, drinking water and breakfast alone will set you back $100 a day). No minibar or in room wifi. Just keep pinching yourself and maybe you will wake up in a real fairmont.

TIP: if you must stay here book your stay as two separate stays: one booking for the first night and a second for the remaining nights. Enrol in their frequent traveller program on arrival, and then clear your bill on day two. From day two you'll get free wifi and gym access.

“It is not what it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Hotel is clean and the choice for conventions dealing with big crowds. Food is average, unless is given to VIP conventioneers, in the "special spots" this big hotel has to offer.

Rooms lack courtains, instead they have wood blinds and this does not allow the room to block the light completely.

Depending of the building and type of room the hotel offers different amenities (I only go to this hotel when I have to speak during conventions). The main building is a "pyramid" and that means that the rooms may be far away from the elevator. The newest tower has nicer rooms, closer to an elevator.

Pools are big and excellent for excersice, however the sport facility has to be paid with an extra fee, which is inconvenient and does not have the newest excercise machines, however most of them have a pesonal TV, expect to pay between $7 and $12 dollars to use the sport facility per day. However if running is your excercise you have a lot of almost flat beach for that matter, being able to run several miles.

Expect several minutes and perhaps up to an hour to check in. As I said before this is the best choice for large conventions in Acapulco. Check out may also mean a big waste of time.

Room Tip: If you want elevators closer to your room ask to be in the newest tower.
