“Old and needs work - overpriced if you are not in a refurbished, renovated room”
Stayed here while attending a convention and probably because I had the convention rate of $130 USD per night, I was put into the lesser quality accommodations. I had a large suite that looked to have the original furnishings from whenever this place was built, several decades ago. I have read that parts of the hotel have been recently renovated, but not the floor I was on.
The room was clean, the bed comfortable, but so short that a 6' 3" person like myself had to sleep sideways on it. The bathroom had plenty of water pressure and hot water. The sofa and chairs in the sitting area were back-pain causing uncomfortable. The dresser and tables were ancient and much of the furniture was encrusted in multiple layers of thick white paint. Unlike nearly all other hotels I stay at in Mexico, this one charged for internet access. I did not eat at the restaurant dining facilities so can't comment on that.
The beachside room I had gave me a beautiful panoramic view of the bay and beach, but the low quality glass patio doors let all the beach party sounds right into the room. Not all of the patio doors could be securely locked, so someone could potentially balcony hop their way into your room.
Compared to other hotels I stay at in Mexico, this one is overpriced (at least the old rooms are). This isn't a bad place, the rate is just too high for the old rooms.
Room Tip: Get a room on a floor that has been renovated. The old rooms are very much showing their age.
