We went to La Tortuga at the recommendation of our awesome tour guide and driver for the week, Roberto Alarcon (robertoalrey@yahoo.com.mx) for our last night in Acapulco. It was a great experience, Gustavo really made it great, he was so nice and thoughtful and helpful. The margaritas were awesome and you have to have the coconut ice cream. They make it there and it's pretty great.

At the end of dinner, Gustavo's nephew even walked us (five girls) from dinner to the bar area to ensure we were safe. Loved this place!

La Tortuga was great. We really enjoyed the grilled shrimp pasilla, chile relleno and the to die for coconut ice cream with Kahlua! Gustavo was our waiter and he was very patient, kind and helpful.

The food was very fresh. The owner was very nice and attentive. Prices were pretty fair. I can agree with other reviewers about cleanliness and ambience but at the same time I would compare apples with apples.

During a week's stay at the Grand Mayan in Acapulco Diamante we asked our taxi driver (Roberto Alarcon) for suggestions for restaurants with typical local food menus. We had several options but chose La Tortuga. We were charmed by our host, Rufino Gustavo, and excited by the menu choices available. The couple adjacent to us brought along a large piece of the sailfish they caught that day and the restaurant prepared it to order. We enjoyed our sampling of it very much. Our fresh tomato and avocado salad was as fresh as the sailfish. My Mexican Combination included four items (and made a nice lunch the next day, as well). My spouse's dinner--fresh scallops--was also very good (she said).
