STAY AWAY from this place! I don't know where the previous review slept, but the Paradise Hotel is THE WORST experience I've ever encountered in my travels in Mexico. Like the previous reviewer, we arrived in the evening. But it was only about 7 pm. But that's where I beg to part company with the previous reviewer.
First and most importantly, this place is a fraud. Their sign advertises $350 pesos for double, yet, BECAUSE WE WERE AMERICAN TOURISTS, they charged us twice that amount: $750 or drop dead. I realize that Mexican hotels leave a lot to be desired re truth in advertising, but TWICE the amount advertised?
Second, they put us in room 222 right on Mex Hwy 15. We asked for another room and, again, BECAUSE WE WERE AMERICAN TOURISTS, the receptionist muchachas condescendingly claimed there were no more available vacancies EVEN THOUGH ALL the parking spots toward the rear were empty. The traffic blared all night. Even with earplugs, there was no sleep with the incessant roar.
Third, there was no HVAC unit in the room. Fortunately it was February and it wasn't needed. Furthermore, the toilets didn't work well. But in this instance, we were happy to leave our calling cards.
I am not fussy and can rough it with the best of them. Also, I am at a loss as to what we might have done to receive this type of treatment. But, the Paradise Hotel in Culiacan is NO hidden Mexican gem. This was fraud, discrimination and maliciousness from the get-go. I'm telling you: avoid this place!
