What a nightmare it was to book this place –can’t pay with instant confirmation online, and they won’t accept non-Colombian debit cards. I spent 2 days trying to resolve this issue – telephone calls, staff endlessly passing you on to someone else, recorded messages sending you in circles and waiting, waiting - imagine if all the other hotels and online services gave me this much hassle!

Finally got to pay, but on arrival, found that the rest of their ‘systems’ are equally archaic. We arrived to find we couldn’t check in until 3pm. So we got herded along with the rest of the sheep to registration. After hanging around until 3pm, hot and sweaty, we finally checked in. but then our bags didn’t arrive in the room until 4pm. Decided to use the internet – cannot cos the system needs 1 hour before your name appears. Decided to go for a massage – fully booked. Okay, lets go for an a la carte meal – all a la carte fully booked for the day. Buffet restaurant don’t have any hot vegetarian options. Okay, the water sports centre – nope, closed for the day! The pools are full of crowds of sheep so swimming is impossible. Rules and regulations posted everywhere – “don’t do this, don’t stand there, don’t paly that”… what an irritating place this is!

Okay, if you are a sheep and like to follow the herd. But don’t expect much value for money.

My husband and I visited this all inclusive resort for a 2 day getaway. What a mistake. This resort has nothing to do, the walking from the room just to eat, is so far that by the time you get there, you are exhausted and sweating. The pools are open from 10 to 6 which is ridiculous. Breakfast is at 7am, then what do you do? The rooms don't have even a bottle of water for you. There is no type of room service at all. You get one towel and you have to walk pretty far to give a ticket to get it, then bring it allllllll the way back to get the ticket when you are done. We found an adult only pool but we were yelled at for having a small plastic cup of beer at the pool, but the kids pools you are allowed to have alcohol. Makes no sense. There is a horrible buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you are hungry in between you are out of luck and you cannot bring food back to your room. I was not feeling well the first night and I was starving and my husband walked for almost 2 hours back and forth with no luck getting me anything to eat. Customer service, well there is none. Nothing to do, no service, no water, except a small cup that you can get after walking around looking for it, terrible. I wouldn't suggest bringing kids, can't swim until 10, then nothing to do but walk in the heat. I saw an older woman asking for a wheelchair and getting told no. Very expensive and not worth 1/4 of the charges. We live and learn. Our cousins actually paid for 2 nights and left after breakfast the first morning, they lost their money and didn't care. Look for something else to do.

This hotel has everything for you to relax: amazing views, comfortable rooms, delicious food... this combined with a beautiful beach, several pools and great weather can give you an unforgettable holiday. Try to visit all three special restaurants at night: Italian, seafood and Asian, but if you don't have enough time, I'd definitely recommend the Asian one, the food is the best (specially the duck) and the atmosphere is very charming! One of the ammenities of this type of hotels are the activities for guests: dance classes, shows, aerobics... if you enjoy the water, sailing is definitely worth it. If you don't plan to go out at night, request a room far from the club and the show area, so you won't be disturbed.
There are several drinks to try, if you don't like very strong cocktails you can try Piña Colada or Coco Loco, if on the contrary you enjoy alcohol Special Baru is an excellent choice

Room tip: Module 3 is close to the main restaurant and the beach and quiet at night

The hotel is located at Baru island, 45 minutes from Cartagena by car. You can also reach the hotel by hiring transport with Decameron for 50.000 pesos (U$18) roundtrip.
It's all inclusive. Food is fantastic, special meals are offered no additional cost (reservation required). Alcohol is all included, well known brands, and ok mixed.
There are about 4 big and beautiful swimming pools.
You see not only people from different cities from Colombia, but also many people from USA Canada and Argentina (between other countries).
There are two big private beaches inside the resort. You can rent Jet Sky (costed me 50.000 pesos (18usd)) for twenty minutes. You better take the time because they will try to take you out before time runs out.
There are scuba diving activities, spa, snorkeling, between other (additional cost).
There are free activities like yoga, aerobics, dancing contests, water polo... Etc...

They will try to sell you all the time a shared time meeting, like a partnership, promising many things..that in my particular case (I bought it) there are some benefits, but it do not worth it.

The place is that romantic, that I proposed to my girlfriend that day :-)
I know you will enjoy it so much.

Overall, it was an average stay. The food was great and resort was gorgeous. However, the customer service, especially the front desk people, we're not attentive and FYI it's true.... they speak very little to no English. (I'm a very low maintenance kinda guy). It took about 2 hrs and 4 phone calls (2 to customer service and 2 to the front desk) to get our luggage to the our room. When the luggages arrived, they were the wrong ones. So, I had to go with the bell boy to look for our luggage. Turns out the luggages never moved from the location when we first arrived... Despite that incident and some others...My family and I had a good time. Beware: Wifi cost 10 thousand pesos per hour.. which is crazy.. and recommend to tip the bartenders for those who like to enjoy more liquor in their drinks.
