“Hidden Gem with a great pool!”

My boyfriend and I have stayed twice now at the Sabai Mansion this month and I have enjoyed it both times! The first time we booked through agoda and stayed in the most expensive block out of the two in a corner room with a breathtaking view out of two lovely large windows. We payed 600 Baht per night with just a fan but after a couple of days upgarded to 750 baht with air con as the rooms were very hot and smelt a little musty without air con. The room was very spacious and you are provided witha mini bar of soap each, a bottle of water to share and two toilet rolls daily. There is a tv in each room ( three English channels news, Syfy and Universal when working ) and a fridge. The rooms are cleaned everyday by three cleaning ladies although they seem to spend more time in a small room by the pool gossiping than they do cleaning rooms, they also do like to stop and stare and even talk & laugh about the guests if you are sunbathing by the pool which is very uncomfortable. During our first stay here we were not getting our soaps replaced after the first day so we assumed that the soaps were just a one off but after speaking to the owner we found that you should get them everyday. This issue was sorted out from then on though. The rest of the staff who work here are totally different and really lovely. The guys who work on reception day & night are both extremely friendly and very professional - a credit to the hotel!!! There is also a maintenance guy who is constantly working around the hotel and he is also very friendly! There is a great pool which we really loved, unfortunately there is a seat and a few tiles missing in the pool and the bamboo sunloungers are in desperate need of replacing and are held together by cable ties but these issues could be down to the fact that the owner is trying to sell the hotel - if the cleaners were replaced and these jobs fixed I would give this hotel 5 out of 5. The second time we stayed in the cheaper block, the rooms are 590 baht with air con and are just a smaller version of the more expensive block. You still get a tv, smaller fridge etc but the table and chairs outside the rooms in this block again need replacing or a really good scrub. You can hire a dvd player for 100 baht for 24 hours and there is a good selection of dvd's to borrow - perfect on a rainy day ( of which we had several ) and a restaurant by the pool that opens during the daytime. Overall this is a great hotel - I wish I could afford to buy it! The reception staff and spacious pool make this hotel an excellent choice in Ao Nang!

Room Tip: A corner room in the more expensive block is worth it for breathtaking views!

“Lovely hidden place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

We really enjoyed our stay in Sabai Mansion. The rooms were really cheap (590 bath for A/C room, 700 for A/C room with beautiful rock view). For that you get a simple room, in a nice quiet hotel with comfortable swimmingpool. It's only a 5/10 minute walk to the beach, and between the hotel and the beach there are many nice bars and restaurants. I would really recommend this place.

Room Tip: I would recommend to get a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor, to get a nice view of the Ao Nang rocks.

“Absolutely great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Could not have asked for a better value. Paid only 590bath a nite for a room with A/C, no breakfast and free wi-fi. The room is a bit outdated, however it has all u need. Plus the hotel has a nice pool and a small restaurant with reasonable prices. The hotel is little bit far from all the action, but it didnt matter because you can get a tuk tuk for few bath at anytime. The staff were amazing and realy helpful. I would definately reccommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap and decent place to stay.

“Hotel on main street but is a hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2010

We stayed at this hotel for one night before getting a flight back to Bangkok but would have stayed for longer if we had come across the hotel earlier. The hotel is on the main street but you would never guess that once you are by the poolside, it feels very secluded and peaceful. The room we stayed in was a pool view room, it was a large room with a large shared balcony, it had good air conditioning and a decent bathroom. The swimming pool was very nice and had a really cool temperature which is unusual in Thailand, there were not a great deal of sunbeds but this wasnt a problem during our stay as a lot of people go the the beach. The staff were very friendly and organised a taxi to the airport for us for 550 bhat which was a good price, there is also internet access for 1 bhat per minute. Our flight wasnt until the evening and the hotel were very good by allowing us to check out an hour later for no cost and also allowed us to use the shower room by the pool to get ready before going to the airport meaning we could enjoy our last day by the pool. The owner has a beautiful pug called Pookie which was an added bonus for me as I love dogs, but dont worry if you dont love dogs as he stays mainly at the reception area and isnt there at night time.We only paid £25 for the one night we stayed and it was definately value for money, great place to stay.
