“Fabulous find. Wish we'd found this lovely hotel sooner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

There are some very average hotels in Lincoln but my partner & I were delighted to stumble across this hotel on the internet. The Hotel has stacks of character and was very tastefully decorated for christmas. The entrance is impressive and we were welcomed by an extremely helpful receptionist who informed us that we had been upgraded. We had a fabulous newly refurbished room with a four poster bed & lovely bathroom with a large roll top bath & lovely shower.

We booked online via a website but we would certainly recommend phoning the hotel first & book direct as breakfast would be included. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the staff could not be more helpful. We will certainly go back and stay there again.

Thank you for your review. We always endeavour to over deliver on our promises - hence your surprise upgrade.

Like many small, privately owned hotels we still love to talk to our customers so would prefer customers telephoned us direct with their booking details.

We look forward to seeing you again.

“Best Service Ever!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

My two friends and myself had our annual long weekend away at The Washingborough Hotel. The downstairs common rooms have just been refurbished and were wonderful but the bedrooms tired and outdated although scheduled for refurb soon we understand. However, all three of us are seasoned travellers both for pleasure and business and we have to say that the service at The Washingborough Hotel is some of the best service we have ever received. Liam and Dan the Chefs created our own bespoke meal - scallops followed by rack of lamb and we would have to say the meal was up there in the top ten meals. Every member of the team was helpful, cheerful and genuinely good at their job and making their guests feel very important. Well done to a great team, we had a great time and have already recommended the hotel!

Thank you very much for your review. Dan & Liam were mighty pleased to get a specific mention - It's becoming something of a competition!

Our programme of bedroom refurbishment continues when business permits and we hope to soon get the last couple of bedrooms completed. We hope to see you again when next visiting Lincoln.

Thank you Sally W for taking the time to feedback your positive thoughts especially about our great team here at Washingborough Hall. Please remember that we serve Afternoon Tea all year round, not just during the month of December. We look forward to welcoming you back.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Went to Hotel for a rare meal out as a couple with 3 kids....We could not of wished for a better very happy evening at this hotel. Staff very friendly and polite, on hand for anything. The food well - I personally eaten out in past a lot - I could not have had a better meal to introduce my partner to the world of fine dining - he was so impressed (offered to take me back). It was so lovely and a credit to the hard working chefs and staff. The dining room was just perfect with its period features and table layout. Loved the wood burner to sit and have coffee in front. Thanks to all for a rare a perfect evening :)

“wedding”

We had our wedding at washingborough hall 12th november 2011
We stayed in room 20,It had noisey heating in the early hours! rock hard bed! and shower comes out in a dribble.
wedding buffet food cost £800 but looked like a £100 worth of food which included jam sandwiches?
five minutes before the ceremony we were being questioned about the number of our guests and wether the numbers we had given them was correct?! BEWARE the owners are only after MONEY they dont care how your day goes.
During the buffet there was a DOG running around to which the staff told us he lived there!
The staff are unhelpful even getting the cake cut was a chore for them.
During having our photos taken we were told to clear room 20 out so staff could clean it for the next guests!
Washingborough hall is very dark inside so please take note of this for your photos!
We could of had our wedding anywhere as my husband earns over half a million pounds a year but we had just purchased a house for almost a million, and wanted some where more then a village hall for the reception, however on reflection we wish we had hired a village hall and had outside catering!

Thank you for taking the time to place your review. It is a good reality check and reminder to Trip Advisor followers that all our reviews are genuine, especially when we receive an overtly negative review like yours.

I am surprised by the brashness of your personal references to money given that we permitted you to renege on your plans and agreed Terms and Conditions by severely reducing the expenditure of your wedding. Our hotel, like most others requires a minimum level of turnover to exist especially on a Saturday – showing compassion we worked with you to achieve what appeared to all of us and your guests a very satisfactory outcome on the day.

Your guest numbers totalled 6 extra people than expected and included 26 children. We provided a separate buffet table for the children, with plainer versions of all the adult food including sandwiches (with the crusts cut off) and yes the children’s buffet did include some jam sandwiches. I understand that my dog Higgins the overtly friendly Jack Russell did escape from our garden and broke into the hallway. In the few moments he was there I understand the children loved feeding him. He had never successfully gate-crashed a wedding buffet before.

Guest numbers are extremely important to us from an organisational point of view – we only put out the correct number of chairs, glasses and cutlery etc. Rooms are also licensed for a maximum number of people and this is critical to us. You had an agreed late check out on your bedroom – you had gone beyond this and we had housekeeping work to do before the impending arrival of other guests.

You described our team of staff as unhelpful. They are the most friendly, obliging, professional, customer focused group of people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The overwhelming majority of our online reviews and letters reflect this and our team have understandably taken this complaint very personally.

Lucy and I very much enjoy overseeing weddings at Washingborough Hall and we try our very hardest to make every bride and grooms day a fantastic and memorable occasion for them and their guests. We are very sorry that on reflection, you feel Washingborough Hall only delivered 2 out of 5 Trip Advisor points. Maybe on reflection a village hall and outside caterers would have suited you better.
