We had a great stay at the hotel, we were checked-in by Craig the Manager, we had a room in the commercial hotel (this is an annex of the main hotel) and the room was very clean and tidy and fresh smelling (we noticed that the hotel had just been refurbished) , we asked Craig if there was anything to do around the area and he was very helpful with the local knowledge, and on our turn from around the area we made a booking for the restaurant, and the menu was very extensive we both ordered the ribeye steak and I must say the steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted the best I’ve very every tasted that either myself or wife have ever had, and we have eaten in some very good restaurants . We were served by a very smart person called Conner and we asked if there was a red wine that they would recommend for the main course and we were very pleased with his recommendation, in whole the stay and service that we received was far from the normal we had a brilliant stay and would recommend this hotel to all our friends and family and we will return in the summer, on check-out and we were checked out by Craig, and he managed to find all our timings and connections for the Orkneys including our hotel reservations in the Orkneys which he confirmed for us.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip in Jan 2012, I was moved to the Commercial hotel 500 yards up the road, the smell of paint was overwelming, the noise from the plumbing work was unbelievable and no wifi connections, i didnt expect any of the above.
The food in the main hotel was acceptable pub grub and the breakfast was very nice

We stayed locally and called in on several nights to have dinner, friendly staff and great food.

have stayed at this hotel (and a few others!!) over the last 4 years and the Ulbster Arms continues to be the best in the far North of Scotland - by a long way. Great food, staff service, peace and quiet, free wi-fi, spacious rooms, etc, makes it a must for any business traveller.
