We stayed three nights at the Dalbriagha in September and it was the highlight of our vacation.
This is a small bed and breakfast, but it is very nice and is reasonably priced. The hosts are warm and personable and make you feel at home. Their breakfasts are excellent (many choices and very good). They can also serve dinner. I highly recommend it. We had one of the best meals of our vacation on the night we arrived.
The B&B is located in the small village of Cromdale. There is an Inn and Pub within walking distance (less than half a mile). If you want a longer walk (2-3 miles) you can walk along the Spey River into Grantown-on-Spey (Grantown is a great village with several restaurants and all the necessities). There are numerous nice walks you can do right from the house. If you want something more challenging, ask how to get to the trail to climb Benn Rinnes.
This area of the Spey is excellent as it is in the heart of fishing and the Whiskey Trail. You are minutes drive from several of the most famous distilleries in Scotland and are only minutes walk from the most famous fishing river in Scotland. The hosts can help you arrange a day (or more) of fishing or suggest some nice walks.
The rooms are very nice and very clean. They are more than adequate in size and the beds are very, very comfortable. You have an entire lounge to yourself, complete with comfortable chairs for reading, a television and a beautiful view of the Hills of Cromdale.
The hosts are so helpful and do a great job of making you feel at home. They are a wealth of knowledge about the local area and have lots of great suggestions for activities (they can suggest something to fit any weather condition and interest). If you are going to be anywhere near this area, you will be missing a wonderful Scottish experience if you don’t stay here. Five stars are not enough!
