“One of my best vacations ever!”

I am here now actually but had to write a review before I left! I have traveled all over the world and stayed in some amazing places and can honestly say that this place has been possibly my favorite.

I am here off season so I have to expect some down time for certain things and honestly the resort not having available restaurants is annoying. I have to pay that price in exchange for the peaceful quiet and absence of crowds and I am ok with that.

Yes things are expensive here. Almost to the point of being ridiculous, but you have to understand that it all has to be brought here from somewhere else which costs money. $85 for a case of Corona though? Really?

The room is amazing to say the least. I'm in a Treehouse with a loft luxury villa and it's perfect in every way. A few hundred feet from the infinity pool which is outrageously beautiful and for once actually looks in person the way it does in the website photos! The water looks almost fake it's so beautiful.

We went snorkeling with Troy at Bimini Undersea and I snorkeled with sharks and fed sting rays which are 2 things I would NEVER do! It was amazing! Troy took great care of me and made me feel safe and I loved every minute.

The golf carts are expensive but almost a necessity. I tried to go without for the first few days but broke down and have one waiting for me in the morning for the last 4 days of our stay.

If you want luxury and peace and quiet and very upscale accommodations, please do yourself a favor and stay here. It's just so much better than the other resorts on the island who offer nothing more than standard hotel rooms. We have a full kitchen with granite counter tops and a king size bed that is awesome in our loft bedroom. Very high class and worth every penny!

A special shout out and thanks to Guido at the activities desk and Sheldon who said he would make whatever we needed happen and he has kept his promise!

Room Tip: get the Luxury villa it's worth every extra penny!

“The property is beautiful... room service/pool service could have been better.”

We stayed in the 2-story bay view treehouse during Labor Day weekend. The house was gorgeous although I thought the white cloth couch and bland walls were silly and make the house less cozy. Sabors was good but pricey. The room service was bad...I requested a blow dryer that never came and we never had clean towels. Housekeeping called one morning to say they'd be there shortly. We return at end of the day to find the house exactly as it was when we left that morning. The pool service was even worse. My sister in law waited almost an hour for her burger and I never got mine!!! I had to cancel the order. I must admit though that the next day, service was better. I got my drink in about 10 minutes. Talk about lightening fast speed! The locals working at this hotel are super friendly, too :)

A few tips to save $$$:

1. Bring and cook your own food if you have a kitchen! Sabor's is wayyy too expensive and the food was nothing to talk about. If you go to the island by boat, visit Bimini Big Game Resort...you will possibly find locals at the dock selling conch and lobster @ 50bucks a dozen (the conch were a bit cheaper).

2. If you have babies or kids, bring a stroller!!!! The golf carts are expensive and the place isn't too bad to walk. Think of it as your workout for the day.

3. The drinks by the pool already have the gratuity added to the price so no need to tip...unless you want to, that is :) 10 bucks a drink is as much as I'd like to pay for a weak cuban passion. But the pina coladas are awesome.

4. This hotel will not offer those roller beds so bring an inflatable one if you plan on fitting more than 4 people into a house. The 2 story treehouse we stayed in was HUGE.

“Worst Experience of my Life, BRIDES STAY AWAY”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

First let me start off by saying that I am writing this review because what I and my fiancé have been through with this hotel is something I do not wish on my worst enemy.

I contacted the Resorts Wedding Dept about 3 months ago because My fiancé and I wanted a Destination Wedding. After exchanging a few emails with them and trying to gather more information the Resort's Wedding Coordinator Danielle Dunnfee (who is featured on the Resorts Site as she had her own wedding at the Bimini Bay) fell off the face of the planet, we stopped getting information.

Weird... ok, well we emailed another representative and started the process of organizing a family reunion on the Island, (as we had decide to do a small civil ceremony in Miami and do a nicer beach reception at the hotel) after several key email exchanges with Sina Kamlani, she too stopped writing back, we emailed another rep Scott Ward, and this other person finally got back to us, apparently no one at Rock Resorts believes in Auto Reply while on Vacation.

Fine enough, Sina came back from vacation we fleshed out all the details and signed a contracts to book 13 rooms and have a reception.

I was then told after executing the contract that the hotel event coordinator Anva Roberts, would be getting back to me. We waited and waited and finally 10 days later! if not more Anva gets back to me, after repeated messages. I explain my fiancé and I will be having a small civil wedding ceremony and wanted to have just a wedding reception on the island. She promises me to have monthly phone calls the 3rd Wednesday of each month so we would know the progress. We asia ton of questions and she promises to get back to us in a few days... we hear nothing, a month passes! We email Scott Ward complaining and he calls us and promises things will change and that all will be well from this point forward. Then Anva misses our arranged scheduled call, no follow up email apologizing, no contract (which we have now been waiting a MONTH to get) We send another email to Scott Ward complaining at this point my fiancé and I discuss that if not for family who has already booked, we would cancel the wedding reception at the resort because, we are afraid of them ruining our day. Well, Anva finally gets us a contract, when we get the contract there are "mistakes" EVERYWHERE!!! Mysterious $100, $200 etc charges that don't add up to the math are hidden in different sections, I am told I need to leave a $6000 deposit for a party costing less than $2,000. When I address the issues they are changed, but at the end of the day the contract was re-drafted over a handful of times due to "mistakes." I'm an Accountant, don't tell me $4+$4=$10.00, well that pretty much exactly what this hotel tried to do, except add a few 00's to the $4.

The last and FINAL straw (if you could believe we were naive enough to sit through all this, why we did go figure) when I signed my group contract i was promised an exclusive rate and that no third party vendor (like Orbitz, Travelocity etc) would have a better rate, so imagine our surprise when we log onto Orbitz and see a better rate!!!

I emailed Sina who did our group contract and she emails me back giving me a further discount on each room per night!

Great, we were so excited we texted and emailed everyone in our group! An hour something later she emails me back and says that she has to rescind the further discount! I said what?! no way I just emailed everyone in my family and told them the great news, I am not taking it back because you made a mistake, she says there is nothing can be done and that we are not getting a better rate. At this point my fiancé and I call Scott Ward and cancel everything, demanding that everyone be issued a refund. He sounded flat, completely unconcerned. Truly ASTONISHING! how someone could just not care that a customer is so dis-satisfied that they have cancelled a large group event. At this point i am out $300 in invitation printing, shipping info packets to family far away etc...

I am literally 90 days away from my wedding, I am now having to re arrange everything and what had taken me months to plan and organize is gone, due to the lack of professionalism, and simple courtesy from the key players at this resort.

If you are a Bride or someone planning on hosting an important event at this resort, PLEASE RECONSIDER! Don't go through the nightmare we have just been through!

“We think the place is fabulous!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

We stayed at Bimini Bay on our way to Nassua and our way back and absolutely loved it. The pools were amazing and the food at the new restaurant, Sabor, was great. In fact, we went to Sabor three out of the four nights we were in Bimini. It was the best food we have ever had in the Bahamas. The resort is well kept and the staff was very helpful. We would definitely go back and would stay longer.

“BEST.VACATION.EVER!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

I can't begin to describe the absolute amazing time we had in Bimini and a large part of that is owed to the Bimini Bay Resort and their amazing staff. It was a 30th Birthday/5 year anniversary trip for us so needless to say it was a special event and we were a lil nervous after all the saving and planning that something might go wrong (especially after my birthday at another hotel in Nassau was so terrible) We spent 6 flawless days at Bimini Bay. It was relaxing and quiet and so serene! The only complaint I have is that....we had to leave :(

THE ROOMS:
The rooms are nothing short of amazing, Gilbert was so nice to us and gave us such helpful service and an upgraded room after he found our anniversary and we throughly enjoyed the ocean view suite (check the pictures). He made sure our mini vacay was a wonderful time. We were lucky enough as well that our room was not too far from the Aqua grille..( pls try the burgers with the sweet potatoe fries.....AMAZING!) as well as the Infinity Pool. The suite was spacious and extremely well decorated. We were more than impressed with the decor. And the mattress!! Nights well slept, the first day we barely left the room because of it!! We had a full kitchen, well equipped and Gilbert even arranged to put a DVD player in the room for us at request for rainy days in. (Again he was so nice to us, I love managers who set such a high example, especially since he didn't really knows us). Maid service was prompt and quick and she left us with more than enough towels. The property is gorgeous and the views are breathtaking...it's also HUGE...trust me a golf cart is needed.

THE RESTURANTS:
We found Sabor's a lil pricey but the food was well worth it. Our meal the last night was amazing, please try the Filet Mignon, tender and delicious and very well seasoned. Our waiter recommended the perfect wine and the meal was just superb. They even put candles in my boyfriend's cake (at my request) for his birthday dinner. Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel special. Aqua Grille has a limited menu but the burgers are the best and the fries are tasty and crispy..not too oily, the sweet potato fries are divine. Drinks are typical resort price which we expected and planned for. The sangria was made to order and again...exceptional. Amicci's pizza is a definite must! Delicious and the gellato is good to ( try the coffee gellato)...it's a lil pricey though so don't be surprised and watch what you order, it's easy to get carried away. We spent two nights at the bar watching the NBA finals and again the drinks were pricey but the atmosphere was so nice and realxing and the weather so pleasent we didn't really care. To be honest the place for food is in town outside of the property. You'll find the best food and at cheaper prices, although the atmosphere won't be as nice as on property.

THE BEST FOOD we had all trip was at THREE DAUGHTER'S DELI owned by KIM JOHNSON who is just...the sweetest woman ever. She has a set menu but she'll make whatever you want to order if you ask her. She's opened super late as well, so if you want a midnight snack (as everything on property closes pretty early unfortunately, she'll be open with great food at your fingertips) One sunday she made us crab and rice that was virtually impossible to find our week there with ribs and fried chicken and all the Bahamian fixings. She was the only person who had macaroni and potato salad at that time too and her corn and rice is the best. She was so good to us and I trust she'll be good to you to.

GOLF CARTS:
If you haggle with the golf cart vendors (except for Sue and Joy's who is way too expensive) they'll work with you. We ended up doing a golf chart for the entire time we were there and we talked him down from 100 + a day to 70 which allowed for flexiability. Trust me you'll want to rent a cart or a bicycle...to wait for the shuttle takes way too long and they don't go off property, nothing beats your own trans...it allowed us to take many midnight drives through the island at our leisure and makes for a more adventerous trip. To be honest I would have thought a gold cart would come with the price of the suites. Just a humble recommendation. I'd recommend Elite Golf Car Rental...they work with you and your price. Also don't bother buying grocery on property at Sue and JOy...again WAAAYYY to expensive....we bought one box of cereal, a small thing of milk and 5 sodas and that was almot $30!!! No way! Just go in town and shop at one of the food stores there or see what you can bring with you. We made it our mission to not cook though, so we were prepared to eat out the whoe time, we only did breakfast at Sabor's once though but it was worth it. The boiled fish breakfast (Mahi Mahi) is to die for!

BIMINI BREAD- You will HAVE to get up off your butt and go into town for it. Bimini is a whole island to explore. Just ask around...people are MORE than friendly, Much nicer then here in Nassau. We were able to bring back 5 loaves with us!! You HAVE to ask around in town for it !!! The resturants don't carry it but there is a lady in town who bakes it for you! Just ask Kim Johnson at 3 daughter's...she knows everything!

As far as being bored...we didn't have time, We did the jetski's, fishing (off the dock, not with Bonefish ebby, he was a lil out of our budget), diving, swimming, driving around, Karoke across the harbour on Wednesday night!! We just asked around and eveyrone was more than happy to help us find things to do. Don't be afraid to ask what the locals do, they have more fun!!!

The most reputable thing about the Bimini Bay resort to me as a "Bahamian tourist" was that no one treated us differently because we were Bahamian. We have all these beautiful islands and it is my goal to see everyone the way a tourist who pays thousands to come over would. So we wanted the full tourist treatment and we got that and more without even having to ask. As a Bahamian I have found WAY too many times at resorts in Nassau and FPO that cater to tourist, that we are often mistreated or our needs overlooked or cast aside as unimportant. The resorts have been down right RUDE to us because we didn't have an accent or they thought we weren't going to spend any money. But at the Bimini Bay we were treated like royalty and that made our anniversary a very special one! And we were more than happy to tip because we had excellent service from everyone from the security guards to the Managers. I recommend this breathtaking resort to any and everyone for a weekend, a week a month...hell buy some property. We're definitely looking into purchasing one of the homes for permanent vacationing.

My only suggestions...just hurry and get the Casino done and make it more known when the Bimini boat goes to and from the resort, we were stuck for a while upon our arrival there!!!

With much love and a promise of being back,
Dario and Sania
