First of all, there is a HUGE difference between this listing, the Bimini Sands BEACH Club, and the Bimini Sands. We were disappointed to find that after passing the lovely Sands condos, our accommodations, the actual Bimini Sands BEACH Club, paled by comparison. It is a run down mess of a hotel. All of the other glowing comments in this section are about the condos, NOT the Beach Club.
When we arrived, we had to hunt down the front desk personnel. He asked us what we wanted. We said we'd like to check in. He said, "Why?" We should have known right then to turn tail and run; it only got worse from there. The first room they assigned us had cigarette ashes all over the floor, like perhaps the maid had a ciggie as she "cleaned." It also had a broken air conditioner so we asked to move. In the next room, the mold in the bathroom was tolerable until we found out there was no hot water. Then when we sat on the bed, the matress sunk down to the floor. It's a real winner of a place.
The staff is lackluster at best. There is a bartender, Bob, who will watch out for you, but don't expect much from anyone else. If you want ice, you have to walk to the lobby and hunt down the front desk guy, and then it's only available during "working" hours which we never figured out. The restaurant is decent, especially breakfast, but don't expect fast service if you're trying to meet your dive boat. At dinner, they will spend the first minute reciting what is NOT available on the menu. Bimini has no agriculture and everything is imported from the US. Expect to pay a premium for frozen hamburger patties, canned green beans and instant potatoes anywhere on the island. It was amazing to us that they are surrounded by a bountiful ocean and it was hardly ever offered on menus!
As you can see, I wholeheartedly cannot recommend this joint. Avoid it at all costs.
