“great cheap place to stay”

I stayed in Bimini Blue Water resort in March of 2002. It was a quaint little place, but well maintained. No frills and cheap! We got to stay there for less than 90 bucks a night. We were there to SCUBA dive anyways. We got three full days of GREAT scuba diving with Bill and Nowdla Keefe at the Big Game resort. If you're looking for some great diving and GREAT service...go there. -------------- As for the hotel, the room was clean....no bugs....clean water, pool was clean, and great location. You can walk to any where on the island from here. Compleat Angler, which is a great hangout, is right next to the Blue Water resort. Another great bar is the End of the World Bar, which is farther north on the island, but still a very short walk. Most nights we went back and forth between the two. Try the Conch fritters at End of the World. The hotel has a pretty good view of the ocean, and is steps from an amazing, secluded beach, which is the best i've ever been to. Great for snorkeling. So, if you wanna go SCUBA dive and have a no frills cheap vacation, go to Bimini and stay here. If you wanna go a little better, go for the Bimini Big Game Resort or Bimini Sands resort. they're both good but expensive. They're better if you plan to stay at the resort all day every day. But we were out diving and at the beach and DRINKING, so we didn't spend much time at the hotel, so the Blue Water was a great choice. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

“Clean, safe and refreshing”

We stayed on our boat at the Blue Water Marina for 4 nights. The marina is clean, safe and well maintained for Bahama standards. The fuel dock was conveniently located at the end of the marina. The pool was clean and felt so good after a day of being out on the water. Showers & bathrooms were clean, too. I would recommend the Blue Water Marina to any transient boaters. We will definately return.

To call this place a resort is a HUGE stretch. We took Chalks over to the island. Other than being over an hour late, the flight was great! After clearing customs, we were hustle to the local "cab", and charged $10 for a 2 block trip to the hotel. we checked in, went to the room, and thought, "well, it could be worse." We went down to the marina at the hotel to check out the pool, and were completely disgusted. the water was brownish-green, and you could not see the bottom of the pool. we had had a long day, so we decided to get something to eat. The hotel's restaurant was closed, so we went to the Big Game Club and had a nice dinner. then we decided to go to the Compleat Angler, which we had heard was the hot spot on the island. It was deserted. Just the bartender and 1 local who were more concerned with their internet connection than paying customers. At that point, after a couple of beers, we decided to call it a day. We went back to our room and got ready for bed. We couldn't use the hot water because it was brown, and we started to notice tiny ants all over the place; we had to spray the bed and surrounding area with bug spray to keep them away. So, after a long day, I spent a long night killing ants...and cockroaches. So much for relaxing. At that point we had had enough. After a sleepless night, we changed our flight arrangements and got the first plane off the island. I don't ask for alot when I'm on vacation, but clean and bug free accomodations are something that i will not compromise on. The island itself seemed dirty and rundown. the beaches looked nice, but not nice enough to put up with all the bugs at night. The Big Game Club looked nice, and the restaurant was clean and had good food. If you feel you must go to Bimini, spend the extra money and stay there. As for us, as soon as we got back to Ft. Lauderdale, we rented a car and booked a room at the Best Western on Key Largo. It was clean and had a nice pool. The next time a get the urge for a tropical vacation, I'll stay in the good ol' USA!

Even though we knew the island was small...having traveled to many places in the world that were also small and remote, the conditions throughout this island were very run down and dirty. And about the ocean view??? What ocean view?? Our view was blocked by a fence and we couldn't get our sliding glass door open to even sit out there if we wanted to. And as for the pool, the Ocean was clearer than the pool water. We thought since Bimini is known for it's fishing we would be able to have these great fish meals for dinner. Well, were we wrong. The food is imported and frozen and the only fresh fish you'll eat is if you catch it yourself. In addition, Bimini advertises kayaking, snorkeling etc., well, CALL AHEAD before you plan your trip to make sure there is someone available for these excursions. When we got there the tour guides were not available so there were no trips other than swimming with the dolphins which we did not want to do. So, if you're looking for lodging conditions that are acceptable to American Standards, we recommend the Bimini Sands Condos located in South Bimini. We took a $2.00 ferry to South Bimini and although these condos are not finished yet, the atmosphere is that of a 5-star quality.

stayed at the Blue Water May 2003 - the Marina is very safe, we left all of our gear on the boat, the Marina offers gas, water, elec. - it also has 2 grills, fish cleaning station, showers, pool, ice, etc. - the hotel has 12 rooms, we stayed in a double - great view of the ocean - the room was a typical 2 double beds, tv, big shower, ground level, balcony & small refridgerator - there was also a rest/bar on the property, however we did not see it open. we will stay here again!
