My husband, myself, and our two toddlers (3 & 1) stayed at this hotel from January 11th- 19th of this year and we thought it was perfect for what we needed and expected. We were on the 5th floor right near the elevators, room 584 i believe.
Check in took about 15 minutes with no problems. we were early so they took our luggage into a locked room and we went over to check out Atlantis before our room was ready. The room has no view, ours overlooked a huge parking lot, though we expected this. Everything was clean, the room was large, and everything functioned properly.
There was the bathroom with tub/shower combo, large vanity, and toilet, two twin beds, mini fridge, coffee maker, sink, cups, large dresser (all 4 of us had space for our clothes), flatscreen tv with a decent amount of channels, desk with chair, wifi with password was decent, couch with pullout bed, coffee table, and sliding doors that barely open due to safety reasons.
The only problem we found with the room, was the sink seemed to be clogged but it wasnt a major problem. Also, the noise from the hall could clearly be heard in the room, but it wasnt constant and we are pretty easygoing so it didnt bother us much,
Almost all, if not all, the staff members were very friendly and greeted us anytime they saw us. We ate the free breakfast every morning at the hotel, at the indoor location. The food was between acceptable and decent, but definitely not the best we've ever had. They had toaster waffles, bagels, toast, donuts, eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, milk, oj, and a few other things I believe, And breakfast ran from 7:30-10:30.
As the free access to Atlantis is the primary reason many people may choose this hotel, I will comment that once you reach the correct side of the hotel, and step outside, the Marina and entrance to Atlantis is right across the rotary. Its the walk through at Atlantis to Aquaventure that I can understand people complaining about. Though it only took us about 10 minutes... minus the time to get our bands and going through the aquarium.
One thing I dont understand why, but Atlantis and Comfort Suites both close their pools very early (5pm at Atlantis and 6 pm at Comfort Suites). Since we were at Atlantis for the most part we did not make use of the CSPI pool though we checked it out and it appeared nice.
We booked through cheapcaribbean and with a promotion we got our room for under $600 for 8 nights. So with clean large rooms, nice staff, good location, free breakfast, low rates, and free access to Atlantis..we will choose comfort suites again and again once our children are tall enough (48 in) for the slides!!
I must mention, Atlantis is NOT stroller friendly.. some ramps can be found but at other points you must carry the stroller down and up stairs..and EVERYTHING is extremely over priced, the best value we found for food was Murrays Deli..and we avoided the upscale places all together.
