My husband and I stayed at the Gibney Beach Cottage for our honeymoon. All I can say is that it was worth every penny and more! The cottage was positively charming as was our host/owner Teri. It was the most wonderful experience. We walked in to the cottage and it was immaculate and a sheer delight. There was a basket of fruit, snacks and champagne waiting for us. The fruit was right from the property. It was sheer heaven waking up every morning to what seemed like our own private beach. I would walk out and pick up coconuts for the day. The Hawksnest Bay waters were populated by tons of fish and turtles making for great morning snorkelling at our doorstep, not to mention kayaks provided by our lovely host. The gardens were spectacular. The most amazing fruit trees and stunning flowers, including an orchid garden. We felt like it was truely our own oasis. Each morning we would sit on our deck and watch the soft waves and hummingbirds while sipping our coffee. The cottage was wonderfully appointed with everything in the kitchen we could possibly want (my husband is a chef and was very pleased) to towels, books, movies, and water toys. Teri was the most gracious host. We loved getting to know her during our stay.

I can tell you we would never stay any where else on St John. Nothing could possibly live up to the charm, location, and service we received during our stay. It is a memory we will treasure for ever and plan on making this a regular vacation spot for us!!!

My husband and I just returned from a two + week stay at the Gibney Beach Cottage, rested, tanned, and happy. The cottage is JUST as it is described on the website, and the photos on the website are indeed true to reality. The entrance to the property (which the two cottages share with Teri Gibney) is lined with beautiful hibiscus, towering palms, and fruit trees. Teri and her helper maintain the gardens surrounding the cottages with loving care, and they are amply rewarded for their efforts. The beach cottage is charming, well appointed, and immaculately clean. The beach itself is simply lovely -- sugar-like sand, a surf that is usually gentle, and relatively empty. Teri provides comfortable beach chairs and towels for her guests and works hard to protect their "space" and privacy. She is the perfect hostess, unobtrusive but always helpful and available. We especially enjoyed the gifts from her garden -- grapefruits, limes and flowers. She even brought us a lobster one evening. We'll be back!

I love the beach at Gibney - a perfect swimming beach steps from your cottage - spend your days watching pelicans and palm tree shadows and walk a few steps back to your cottage...it's heavenly and relaxing! BUT I am enclosing my photos of the cottages - they are simply not what the website shows (those pics were taken years ago). So, if you want to rent for the beach that's great, but here are the photos so you can decide if the cottages are right for you.

Just returned from 8 nights in Gibney paradise! Wow! Everything was outstanding. We rented both the Beach and Garden Cottages and couldn't have been more pleased.

First, the location is awesome. Twenty feet from fence to surf. Really. Gibney Beach is very isolated. The beach itself is soft sand with very few rocks in the shallow surf. Snorkeling along the west bank of the bay is fair, but we saw barracuda and large rays from the beach! Dry snorkeling...what a deal! Having trouble sleeping? This is the cure. Light surf pounding and coqui's chirping (do frogs chirp or what?) making staying awake difficult, but they who's really trying.

It's close enough to Cruz Bay and far enough away, too. Close to most of the good snorkeling spots on the North Shore.

Your hosts, Teri, Tommy and the rest of the crew, are extremely helpful and friendly. Very laid back. Jennifer, Teri's mainland connection, is also extremely nice to work with.

If you like your vacation laid back, quiet and secluded, this is definitely the place for you!
