“Disappointing”

I have stayed here 5 times over the last 12 years. My last stay (Jan 23rd to 27th, 2012)was extremely disappointing. The Antilles Resort Group owns it now, but it used to be owned privately by the Faraquars, until Mack passed away a few years ago.
Stay away from this place! The people at the front desk are very nice, and helpful. but the units are in bad disrepair. The "housekeeping" staff provides the bare minmum, and our unit had broken tile in the pool, and we found two live cockroaches during out stay. The bed must be 20 years old, the mattress has no support. The one night we had dinner at the restaurant on site, their refrigeration unit was broken, and the enchiladas which we ordered used shredded chicken and beef, they were disgusting. They couldn't serve us ice cream because the unit was broken.
They seem to have no pride in keeping up the place, they are woefully understaffed, and there is a new a new building going up next to it with all the trees nearby being cut down so the "privacy" they are touting with the pools in each unit will be a thing of the past.

My husband and I have stayed here a couple times. One thing we have learned is anywhere you travel there are going to be pro's and con's at any place you stay.
Pavilions and Pools has come little extra's for a privacy vacation that you don't get in other hotels. Each unit is separate from other unit's - not that they aren't connected. These units have their own privacy decks with a private pool. This is great for the couple that likes to not worry so much about swimsuits or sun bathing in private. The pools in the units we stayed in could have some updating to them, but they are upgrading the units to more modern styles.
It is only a short walk to Sapphire Beach where Sapphire Beach Resort is which they have a restaurant and bar right on the beach. You are able to play on a beautiful beach and not be far from Pavilions and Pools.
Red Hook isn't far from the resort where there is a grocery market, restaurants and shopping. You can also jump on the ferry that goes between St Thomas and St Johns. We recommend renting a little run about car and check out St John.
We were happy with our stay and loved the location. We recommend anyone to stay, but remember you aren't staying at the Ritz. If you travel much this isn't going to be the best or worst place you've ever stayed.
If you can go during Carnival you will love it!

“Stay here”

I came for a week and stayed at this place. They have free breakfast , free snorkeling equipment , free rum as soonest you walk into the villa. The rooms are spectacular , I felt that I was staying in a 1 bedroom apartment. It includes a king bed, large bathroom , large kitchen, living room with free cable , private pool and a BBQ. It was a 5 minute walk to sapphire beach , one of the prettiest beach I ever seen. This is the perfect place to stay :))))

“Avoid the cruise ship masses and stay here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

My husband and I traveled to St. Thomas for my son's wedding the 3rd week of September. Hurricane season, I know, but we were lucky! We stayed in the Red Hook area of St. Thomas at a place called Pavilions and Pools Villa Hotel. It's 5 plus miles (hilly, curvy miles) from the downtown Charlotte Amalie area. We rented a car for the 4 days we were there, and that was a definite advantage! You can really get the feel of the island and see all the beautiful spots by driving yourself around! We highly recommend renting a car! Just remember - you drive on the left! The hotel was acceptable to us, because we enjoyed being out of the highly populated area where the cruise ships come in. We were disappointed, however, that the Internet was not in our villa. We believe it was advertised that it was, but in reality you had to go to the office area to connect to the Internet, or to the casual open-air island restaurant called Twisted Taco on the premises, which was inconvenient. A unique and nice feature of each villa was it's own private personal pool. We did not utilize the pool because we are not water and sunning people, but certainly some folks would enjoy sunning by their private pool. I also would not recommend it for small children. The pool was quite deep after you step off the last step! Non-swimmers beware! We learned on our last day that the Sapphire Beach area was a short 5 minute walk through the back of the property. You don't want to miss walking over to Sapphire Beach. It was quite pretty! For nature lovers (which we are), a unique event happened every night while we were there! We were enthralled with the oodles of hermit crabs that come out at night and walk on the sidewalks! We've never seen anything like that before! We walked each night around the property to see the hermit crabs! All in all, our experience was a good one.

“Always changing - - and for the good !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

We were here before. We had a so-so time due in part to a crappy room. Luckily the manager at that time moved us, and we got the best place.

This time, we booked, asked specifically for the good room, only to be told when we arrive that it wasn't available for several days. Too bad the new management group hadn't told us that when we booked.

There are a few rooms worth asking about. One is owned by Donovans on the small villa side. The other better & BIGGER villa is owned by the Zeislofts. And a cute place although we didn't see it this trip was ownedby a woman named Dolby. She has good taste, and is also on the larger villa side.

The new restaurant is at a minimum CLEANER!! and the updates to the balcony for breakfast make the breakfast space very nice. Food was fine, but as always, expensive for my NorthEastern sensabilities.

I'm giving the Service high marks for the ONSITE person. The phone service was attrocious for booking, but we knew they are just 'doing their job" and have little to do wth the villa once you arrive (they book for multiple places and don't care about a caller.)

We also visited a couple rooms at the Sapphire Beach Resort nearby, and this pace, P&P is a much better bargain all around since you have your own pool, and you can skinny dip if you don't have my kids. The Sapphire beach can be used by anyone...

Room Tip: To get one ofthe nicer villas, ask for the Zeisloft or Dolby villas.
