“Always changing - - and for the good !!”

We were here before. We had a so-so time due in part to a crappy room. Luckily the manager at that time moved us, and we got the best place.

This time, we booked, asked specifically for the good room, only to be told when we arrive that it wasn't available for several days. Too bad the new management group hadn't told us that when we booked.

There are a few rooms worth asking about. One is owned by Donovans on the small villa side. The other better & BIGGER villa is owned by the Zeislofts. And a cute place although we didn't see it this trip was ownedby a woman named Dolby. She has good taste, and is also on the larger villa side.

The new restaurant is at a minimum CLEANER!! and the updates to the balcony for breakfast make the breakfast space very nice. Food was fine, but as always, expensive for my NorthEastern sensabilities.

I'm giving the Service high marks for the ONSITE person. The phone service was attrocious for booking, but we knew they are just 'doing their job" and have little to do wth the villa once you arrive (they book for multiple places and don't care about a caller.)

We also visited a couple rooms at the Sapphire Beach Resort nearby, and this pace, P&P is a much better bargain all around since you have your own pool, and you can skinny dip if you don't have my kids. The Sapphire beach can be used by anyone...

Room Tip: To get one ofthe nicer villas, ask for the Zeisloft or Dolby villas.

after reading reviews online and seeing very few pictures of the villas I was really nervous about this place. our cab driver passed it on the way to drop off others staying at the Ritz and from the outside compared to the Ritz I was prepared to stay somewhere else! Checking in was easy and the lady was very nice. Once we unlocked our gate I was in heaven! It was beyond my expectatiins! The villa was recently renovated with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, beautiful shower, & gorgeous sinks! Our own pool was even larger than I imagined! Sapphire beach was only a short walk and it was beautiful!!!! Red Hook is only 1 mile away..it has a few cool bars and restaurants and a gas station. You also take the ferry from there. Overall we had an amazing fun vacation! take a lot of money for cab fare and food! We spent $3000 easily just on cabs, going out drinking & the ferry. Rent a car you will get the hang of driving, it was save lots of money!

“Don't Stay Here”

Read all the reviews before we went, but went anyway. The pool was in need of a cleaning- mildew in the pool, broken tile, etc... Mosquitos galore due to the trees in the back. The restaurant was not in working order due to a refrigeration problem so we could not eat or get a drink at the bar. Walking to the beach was a scary trip. Walked through empty lots, saw a guy cutting grass with a sickle, had to walk through another "hotel" area to check out the beach. We did not walk onto the beach because it looked dirty and quite small. The area surrounding the hotel is dumpy, in fact, the drive all around the island made us feel we were in the ghetto. The hotel was kind enough to give us our deposit back, but I would recommend that people find another island to honeymoon on and NOT St. Thomas.

We stayed in #107 Beautiful, secluded, quiet place. Perfect location.. 5 min from Redhook, where there's nightlife & great restaurants also you can take the ferry to St. john & BVI from there. Up the street from sapphire bay where you can parasail, jet ski, or just hang out at the beach. You can catch a cab for $4pp if you want to be alone or $1pp on the open air Safari which picks up right in front of the Resort cost is $2pp all the way into Charlotte Amalie. (what the locals use) At night if ur in Redhook catch a cab back, because since you only catch the Safari on the left side of the street it is much longer & you have to transfer at the mall to another Safari. Perfect for couples, convenient location, friendly staff, free continental breakfast & a decent on site restaurant... Try the fish tacos!!

“Choose a different place to stay!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

I stayed in this hotel about 20 years ago and was looking forward to a wonderful vacation, but I was very surprised to find that the place was very run down and under staffed. I had to move to a 2nd villa upon check-in because the 1st one was so bad.....old, dirty, badly furnished, broken tiles, etc. It really was a turn-off. The 2nd villa seemed to be a little newer, but we had minimal housekeeping thoughout the week....she only showed up on Monday and Wednesday, so I had to buy my own paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, garbage bags, etc, and even paper dishes and cups because I was afraid to use the dinnerware that was provided (sticky)....I had to request fresh linen everyday, and even made my own bed on Friday beacuse the housekeeper did not show-up. The living room furniture looked nice, but the chair and couch were as hard as rocks. We had trouble sleeping because the mattress was so uncomfortable (lumpy), and the air conditioner over the bed was so noisy. The lock to the villa outer door was falling out, and the condo door lock could be easily unlocked by shaking....The pool tiles needed repair....the patio chairs were very old and stained....There were chickens and dogs running loose throughout the property, and generally the property was not taken care of very well, and we were eaten alive by the bugs in the pool area.. and although the location was walking distance to Sapphire Bay, The final straw was when the patio table glass top broke on the cermaic tile floor and we were given a broom and told to clean it up ourselves.....I would never go back to this hotel again. By the way, another guest complained that there were rats in her room, but I did not experience this, just ants and other bugs.
