“Fabulous place to stay in St Thomas, can't wait to return”

Reading the reviews on 'Trip' this place comes highly rated and rightly so. Beautiful view of the harbour, incredibly friendly staff and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Having stayed at a couple of the Marriotts on the island (and will never do so again if I can help it!), I have found my version of paradise on St Thomas.

My stay was with my Mother and she is in her 60's I gave her the bed (good daughter that I am!) and Ron organised a blow-up queen bed for me. I didn't know what to expect but it was surprisingly very comfortable for a couple of nights.

To top it all off Beth and Ron are real animal fans and the cats that they have are unobtrusive but really made the place for me - especially the really fat ginger tom! Thanks for a great stay.

“The Nicest People and View in St. Thomas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Where do I start? For starters, the oweners Ron and Beth are the nicest and most friendliest people you will ever meet. From Beth showing you where to stand to see the most beautiful sunset ever,to Ron cooking one of his famous steaks. The balcony rooms have breath taking views of the harbor for a modest price. The steak dinner (Ron cooks) will run you around $35.00, which is a bargin not having to catch a taxi into town to eat. The taxis are the biggest rip-off in St Thomas($24.00 for 2 people to go 3 miles.) Our balcony room had a great view with a microwave, refridge and flat screen TV. The honor bar was very cool and worked out great. There again a bargin not to have to go in town. The free continental breakfast was more than enough. I thought it was very cool Ron had great commercial free music streaming from his computer coming out of (the den) while we were eating dinner. We only stayed one night because of our sailing trip out of Tortola. I would highly recommend the Guest House to anyone.

“Wonderful B&B with fantastic views and great hosts!!”

Thank you Ron and Beth for making the start of our 2 week vacation perfect. We got into St Thomas late with travel delays due to bad weather. While in line waiting for our rental car Beth called and said Ron would stop by the airport so we could follow him up to B&B because it was so late. What a great way to welcome us to the island! We enjoyed the views from our room and the great steaks and fish Ron grilled up for us. My husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. The breakfast was a nice way to start the day. Will stop again when we get back to St. Thomas

“Excellent choice for a St. Thomas stop-over!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here two nights before heading for a week in St. John. We couldn't have chosen better.

I hate it when people say "it's not the Ritz" - and it's not. And should not be. If you're the Ritz type, don't go here. If you have a car, like affordable rooms, extremely friendly service and fabulous food, head for the Island View Guest House. All reservations are via email and phone and the people who work there are incredibly helpful. An overview:

The honor bar - there's a main gathering area called the lanai, where you'll find great views, music, and drinks and snacks. Your room number will be up on a chalkboard. When you take advantage of the reasonably priced drinks or snacks, you mark the chalkboard. Every day the board is erased and you start fresh.

Breakfast -- breakfast is basic continental and free. This was a pleasant surprise.

Dinner -- as others have said, dinner is fabulous! When you check in, you indicate whether or not you'd like to have dinner at the hotel and at what time (6:30 or 7:30). I believe they do it Thursday-Friday-Saturday and it attracts locals as well as guests. My husband's a steak guy and agrees with what everyone else says here - Ron is an awesome cook. I'm not a steak person and also loved my mahi and shrimp. Dinners are about $18-$30 for your protein, potato and veg, you use the honor bar to get your drinks, and they also serve a wonderful salad for $5.

People - we were kind of young, at 40 - most of the guests seem to be of the retirement age. All were friendly, but not too much. We're not usually "joiners" and were a little afraid of the forced cameraderie you find on cruise ships. We need not have worried.

The rooms -- the rooms are okay. Nothing fancy, a little island rusty in places, but very comfortable and clean. Balcony rooms have a great view.

The hosts -- Ron and Beth are great to know. They have been on island six years and spent most of that time fixing up the hotel. It shows. Ron's got a little hydroponic fish farm going on there that's pretty interesting.

We'll be back next time we need a room on St. Thomas!

Room Tip: We liked the balcony rooms -- 11 is down quite a few stairs. Maybe go with 13 or 15 which are on a h...

“Just perfect!!!”

We love B and B's and this one is the best yet!! The view from the rooms and dining area is fantastic. The rooms are super clean and the hospitality of Ron, Beth and staff made you feel at home and very welcome. We stayed 3 nights--had to then spend 2 nights at a resort for a wedding, but hurried back to Island View for our 4th night. Love Island View!!!
