I'm not sure why anyone would write a negative review about this place! St. Thomas is magnificent. The weather in February was perfect, warm and not too humid. The service was on par with other Ritz properties we have been to. Yes the property is not brand new, but they keep the property clean. Even the "older" rooms are still clean and comfortable. You are paying top dollar for the gorgeous location, the beautiful property/beach, great food and impeccable service. We were only there for 4 days and found the trip very relaxing. The pool and beach staff are great with drinks and food. The free non-motorized water sports are a nice touch. We recommend a trip on the Lady Lyndsey either for a dinner cruise, snorkeling or a sunset cruise. Just get out on the water and enjoy the Caribbean Sea!
The restaurants were good, but again we were only there for four days. Eating all meals on the property might get a bit repetitive if you are there for an entire week, but the quaint town of Red Hook is only a five minute taxi ride and there are lots of great restaurants and shops there. We also had a wonderful couples massage at their spa. Overall, we found our experience at the Ritz to be relaxing and worth the money and certainly would return in the future!

We just returned from a four night stay at the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas. Overall we were very pleased with the property and the service. The hotel is very well maintained, and the beach is gorgeous. The views of St. John can't be beat. Head down to Red Hook for some great restaurant options at much better prices, and I highly recommend Old Stone Farmhouse for dinner.

As others have said, the service is great, and the prices are very high as you would expect from a Ritz. Our only complaints were ones that you couldn't blame the hotel for - St. Thomas was not the nicest of islands and we had multiple people comment on the newer issues with safety on the island. The hotel is also very isolated, and there are no real opportunities to leave the property without a car or taxi. That being said, very relaxing and enjoyable. When we go back we will make the extra investment in time and money to go across the bay to St. Johns, but if you are a Ritz or Marriott loyalist you will have a good experience here.

Upsides)Awesome snorkeling and catamaran(had never sailed in my life so me and my wife trying to sail this thing was hilarious), nice pool area includes infinity pool, resteraunt food very good etc. The club level was awesome, free alcohol (any time its open, where if youve been to some its only during certain hrs), resteraunt food was good, It is also easier to walk from the club level area to the beach.
Town and market was fun.
Downsides)mainly about the island, you have to take a cab everywhere, and alot of them are community taxis (you wont be alone). You cannot leave the resort without taking a taxi. Very hilly.
The food is very americanized (we flew from Houston, went out to eat and the soup of the day was Tortilla soup, wonderful). When you get to the airport the taxi people confuse you on how to get to the Ritz and they tell you we can get you a solo taxi for 100$, everyone we met at the hotel was like, Did you pay 100$ to get here. Ride back to airport 25$. So beware of that trick.

First, most of our trip was paid for by our company since it was an incentive trip for employees so my experience is different than if you paid. We were treated to spa services, sailing on the cat, and eating vouchers. I found the rooms to be average for a Caribbean chain hotel so don't expect luxury; the grounds were well maintained but unoriginal - it could be anywhere in my opinion. My spa service was fine, not great but not unpleasant. I had expected awesomeness since they carry so many neat products. I had a facial and massage. My facial left my face bright red but it went away after an hour or so and my skin looked great. One huge disappointment was the shower in the woman's locker area. Both of them were awful and I did not use them during my second visit. I think for a top resort and spa that this is unacceptable. I should have told the front desk but didn't bother. Both restaurants were very good and the morning staff were super friendly to us and especially my two year old daughter. We used the outside babysitting service last minute and they were able to find a great girl to help out for a couple of days. The beach was just right for us to relax at with our toddler. I like that the resort fee provided access to many aquatic equipment; we used them all - kayak, snorkel, wind surfing and paddle board. In general, I found the staff friendly and had a good time.
