“Not Perfect, but Great Location, Awesome Views and Good Overall Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2010

I stayed at the Breakers Villa with my 19 month old son, teenage nephew, sister and mom this February 2010. I was skeptical when I saw some other posts saying that the villa had "broken tiles" at the pool and "rusty electrical outlets." It is true that the villa could be taken better care of (i.e. the windows and window wells were not that clean, there was some rust around the house due to the salty sea spray like with the metal latches, some tiles were broken on the patio, and other upgrades were needed, like the sliding glass door that was difficult to open and close), However, I have to say that the villa was just fine for our family. The owner did give us a break on the asking price for 1 week, so I think for what we paid, it was a great deal. The owners/managers were a bit stingy on some of the amenities (see below), but I guess you get what you pay for, and overall, it was worth the small annoyances. It didn't rain during our stay, but I'd be curious if the roof still leaks, as was posted earlier. Also, be sure to rent a car at least a few weeks in advance, as all cars were sold out for half of our stay due to the agricultural fair.

The views were amazing - especially the sunrises, and the very small sandy beach was very nice and an adequate size for my son to play around in the sand. It was a rocky beach, but it was fun to search for seashells and sea urchins along the beach. The pool was warm and clean and we spent much of our time by it relaxing and playing. The furnishings were nice and in good condition, and the bedrooms were a bit small but very nicely decorated. The beds were also very comfortable with nice sheets, and the bathrooms were clean and well appointed.

A few annoyances (that could be easily addressed), especially if you bring children are:
1. They said they had a high chair, but it didn't fit correctly on any chairs, so we had to hold the chair while my son ate. See if they can upgrade the high chair - this would be very helpful
2. They didn't provide any crib sheets
3. They didn't provide ANY extra sheets or pillowcases.
4. They only provided 6 beach towels
5. No beach or pool toys (?!)
6. Annoying how everything was labeled in kitchen cupboards, like you were going to steal the pots and pans.
7. It wasn't clear, even after talking with the managers, if the water really was potable. To be safe we drank bottled water.
8. Owner tried to charge us $200 for using the roll-away, when she knew we needed a bed for my nephew, and she hadn't mentioned any additional costs.

Even though these things made the villa less than perfect, overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay!

“We Adored this Home on the Ocean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2009

We adored this home on the ocean. The views were spectacular and we could not have asked for a more comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. This home was everything we hoped it would be and then some!' We rented this home to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect vacation. The island offers fabulous snorkeling, swimming fantastic sunrises and sunsets. I enjoy running and the area where this home is located is very secure. The roads are wondeful , with some fabulous views from the higher elevations. We had wonderful meals at some of the local restaurants. We were given very good advice and directions by the caretakers of the villa. I would HIGHLY recommend this home for a wonderful vacation, you wont be disappointed.

“Beautiful Island escape with a view to Die for”

All I can say is WOW !

If you want to stay in a private villa setting that screams luxurious Caribbean living...this is it. The property is in a secluded, gated community with other large estates and is in one of the best locations. You have a private little beach all to your self just steps from the pool that overlooks the sea.

Spent every day both at the pool or in any of the living/bedrooms staring out at the gorgeous view and enjoying the constant sea breeze. The weather was great while we were there without a drop of rain.

This place was great for our 2 couples as there are 2 master suites on each end of the house. It was completely private if you wanted from the opposite side. There's also a 3rd bedroom for a 3rd couple towards the center of the house that would have worked well if we had 6. The showers are the biggest I have ever seen!

Furnishings were in great condition, which appears to be no small feat considering the proximity to the saltwater. Most of the furniture had an island feel and really went well with the house and made for a really neat island experience. The kitchen and bathrooms were near spotless and the bedding and linens smelled freshly cleaned.

We cooked at least half the nights as the kitchen is well equipped and like every room in the house, has a great view of the pool and sea. You can even see a little of the downtown lights in the distance.

For dining, we were pretty successful using Yelp to find restaurants. A couple of our favorites were Hamburger in Paradise, a little Italian place adjacent to Kmart, and Off the Wall Beach restaurant which serves great pizza and sandwiches. There was no shortage of great places to eat, no matter your budget. There's a few different places to stick up on groceries too. Plaza Extra is like your typical supermarket, while there is a small local market just down the street from the Villa that is great for wine and things you forgot.

I've stayed at a few different places in the Caribbean and booked a vacation rental on St.Thomas as well. Although both islands are great and have something special to offer, I think the Breakers Villa helped make St. Croix our favorite of the US Virgin Islands.

The property has a website with lots of pictures so you know exactly what to expact, which was a great help.

I highly recommend this place for those who want a luxurious, private, complete escape.

“Th Breakers Villa Judiths Fancy St. Croix”

Spoiled the vacation to St. Croix. Just hope it does not rain on your stay to this villa. Whole house roof has water leaks. So be sure to find the towels in advance. That's if you can find any. Pictures online were take many years ago. So be careful! Electrical outlets leak and show signs of rust. Owner claims sheets are of high quality, but upon inspection are cheaper Martha Stewart. Pool looks horrible with many broken or missing pool tile. Patio around pool is cracked/broken Mexican tile.
