“DONT WASTE YOUR TIME”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2007

We checked in and saw our room and stayed only long enough to find another place to stay. The shower was moldy. The kitchenette area was not clean. The A/C window units did not work well and the celing fan did not work at all. The pool was filthy and the pool furniture was filthy. The common areas were dirty and looked unsanitary. My husband and I agreed that we would not be able to eat anything from the restaurant, sleep on the sheets or use the shower for fear of the lack of cleanliness of the place in general. Luckily we were able to get a place somewhere else and leave quickly! The rate that we were charged (even in off season) was excessive to what this place offered.

“Cane Bay Reef Club is great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2007

We just returned from Cane Bay Reef Club and had a fantastic time! The resort was clean and quiet, our biggest considerations! It is not for the glamorous, but is great for those looking for nice accomodations in a great area. It's located close to a few nice beach bars/restaurants, but the best food was right on site at Bogey's! We stopped at a grocery store on our way from the airport to stock up on a few items for breakfast & drinks which proved to be a good idea, there is not much there for breakfast.

If you are a diver it's ideal. Cane Bay Dive Shop is an easy walk and the crew and dives are fantastic. Joe at the resort is a great host and will take good care of you. The view is great, but the beach is very rocky. No problem though since Cane Bay Beach (the best on the island) is a very easy walk. Stop along the way and have a beverage at Off The Wall. Be there for the wonderful sunset and have a sunset shot with them! You will like Cane Bay Reef Club!

“Great place to have a party for any event”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2006

I held my wedding rehearsal party at the cane bay reef club recently-Nov. 4th, 2006 weekend and it was incredible. Joe the owner, is as nice as they come and assured me prior to coming that everything would be great. Well, all we had to do was pick out our menu and show up. We had 51 people poolside, at sunset and the food etc was unbelievable for the money. I can not stress enough how good the food is here. Might I mention this is not like carambola-with white table clothes. It is for those who want to have a casual party, poolside with an incredible band-Joe the owner will organize it all for you. 5 star service and food.

“The Cane Bay Reef Club does not live up to what it's website promises”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2006

I'm afraid this place has gone downhill since their website was created. The condos were well- laid out, but that's where the honest presentation stopped. The owner & staff were perfectly nice, but the premises were worn & seedy - holes in the screens, crooked stairs, louvers that wouldn't open when you wanted the breeze or wouldn't close when you wanted to keep out the rain, etc. Not to mention a heavy 2x4 meant to hold the sliding door shut, for safety sake, but which slammed down on my toe, causing a deep bone bruise. This was our 2nd day there, so wearing flippers was impossible. I wore slippers & limped for the whole vacation, & more than a month afterward...

The place is right on a reef - as a result, the waves crash continually - & I don't mean the breaking of gentle waves. It's like a wave machine. Maybe you'll like it, but for us it was a relief to get away from the North Shore.

The location was far from ideal. It took almost a half hour to get to Christiansted (where activity & the good restaurants are clustered). The drive was a bit hairy at nite because the roads, tho well-paved, are very winding & not well lit. I've heard since that there are nice condos on the beach right outside C'stead. That's where we should have been!

“Lots of Fun”

My sister and I stayed in the Penthouse Suite for a week. We had a great time in St. Croix and at this hotel. Our suite was very clean, but could use a little work. The living room / kitchen was very spacious and pretty, but the bedroom was rather small and drab.

I agree with many other reviews saying that the friendliness of this place makes it a very desirable place to stay, especially for 2 women travelers, or anyone else who likes to be social. We were made to feel welcome immediately, and the local folks we found at the bar and restaurant were always welcoming but respectful.

Also, Joe the owner was extremely responsive to our needs. Some things didn't work when we first checked into our suite, but most everything was fixed within 24 hours. The food at Bogey's was quite good, and the staff was very hard working. Everyone pitched right in to help each other. All in all, a fun, relaxing place to stay.
