Just spent 8 days at Cane Bay Reef from March 5th thru 13th and loved every minute. Great location directly on ocean. This is NOT a inclusive, sterile, all inclusive chain resort. If you want that---then dont go there. It is a small, clean, comfy accommodations. Unpretenious and affordable. I was in "Coconut" unit, and its a furnished 1 bedroom condo with full kitchen. The new owners, Jim, Sita and Michelle, told me that the property was slightly damaged by hurricane Omar, and the pool sprung a slow leak....but was being patched and cleaned everyday I was there. There was property maintenance of painting, (two units were being painted and refurbished) landscaping and constant housekeeping, trash pick up every morning, so I don't know why there are any negative comments here. No rodents or any other problems either.
The location is perfect with WIFI, but cell phone (sprint) wont work...but just go up road a half mile and there is a signal. It is 5 minutes from carambola Resort where I had business, 20 minutes from Christiansted and 40 minutes to Frederiksted, again all commutable. Country store up road, but "food center" is only 15 minutes away so you can get provisions and stock up. The restaurant on site (dinner happy hour only) is good with best sunsets and fun local crowd. Great lobster on Sundays! Cane Bay is also an award winning Texas Draw Poker facility with friendly games at night 3 nights a a week.
I used Olympic Rent a car who picked me up at airport and took me back.
I loved this place and will return because I have business on st croix every 8 weeks.
Try flying to San Juan, then take seaplane-seashuttle Seaborne to St. Croix. It was cheaper than a direct flight.
