Describe the service you experienced:
Excellent, ask for 'flint' to spray the room before you go to the beach to kill off any mosquitoes. The staff was friendly helpful, gave me daily ice for my room drinks, informed me of what time dinner was and where I could get local cuisine on the beach, gave me such wonderful service...The staff made my vacation so restful and I felt safe and welcomed.

Tell us how you liked the room:
Ok the room is very clean. 2 large beds that 2 could sleep very comfy and not squished. A.C. Oceanic views. Washroom has a shower, toilet, sink,. I was asked if I wanted a tidy every day and they made bed, changed towels and tidied up as appropriate. Very nice. No place to hang your clothes, no fridge, no radio, no tv. A little patio table with 2 chairs on your patio. Nice high local wood ceilings. Big room, felt comfortable, not musty smelling or crammed like sardines. Clean rustic room.

Talk about the location & amenities
Location is heaven sent. On the beach 1 sec walk. Bar, restaurant on premises. Local rum shop, small parlour shops in the village to the left of the hotel. Nice, can get cold Carib for 10.00 TTD, little treats etc. Support the local business in Maracas village. Friendly people. I did not feel unsafe.

Say what you liked best & least
I liked the location, the view of the clouds making love to the mountains every morning, the 6 am runs on the beach, the sweet sweet water of the Caribbean..the local cuisine a few steps away from the hotel and the interaction of watching families lime together and enjoy each other company. The staff was amazing! I cant say enough. A cheerful Good Morning goes a long way and they know how to treat people properly. I am going back!
The extra attention and hospitality given to me by the lovely folks who work there. The least thing I did not like: no wifi, no radio to listen to sweet soca music, and no little fridge to keep my Carib's cold...lol. Other than that, I could have brought a radio with an international adapter plug, a can opener and a little cooler and they would have gladly filled me up with ice! lol.

My family stayed at the maracas beach hotel in August 2011. Firstly there are no phones, tv or internet access in the rooms, so if you are going with children carry things to keep thembusy. The rooms have absolutely no towels( this was a first for me)no place to unpack clothes, not even a clothes hanger. There was not even a glass to drink water. The bed was uncomfortable. the worst though is lying in bed and seeing a cockroach crawling on the wall!!! The only good thing was the service by the kitchen and dining staff who were friendly and very homely.

Wanting a little break from our busy lives and having just completed school, my friend and I decided to take our families to the Maracas Bay Hotel for the weekend. We booked rooms next to each other for convenience. When we got to the front desk they told us that they would not be able to accomadate our request for close rooms. At this point we didnt have much choice. They give us the keys and no further info. The rooms were so disappointing! No towels, no mats in the bathroom, no shampoo, no phone...nothing!!!! Just beds and thankfully and AC. We didnt even realise that there were pillows...or at least something looking like pillows. The view wasn't what we expected at all. Mostly trees blocking the beach and people who were parked in front the hotel. The bar and "restaurant" closed at 7:30 p.m. before we could think about getting anything. The next morning we went down for breakfast at 7:45a.m. only to be told to "come back in 15 minutes breakfast is at 8!!!" in a most unprofessional way. To add to that only one person was working at breakfast time, so she took the order, made the toast & eggs & bacon and brought it to the table. And she had to do this for all the families present. No wonder she was not pleasant. I would really not recommend this resort to anyone and I definitely would not take my family there again.

We chose Maracas Bay Hotel because my boyfriend and I decided to take last minute trip to Maracas beach ...we thought that it would have been convenient to stay there since the hotel is across the road ... a decision that we both regret. We would have been better off sleeping in the car. On check-in the receptionist was very snotty and was not informative. We were not even aware that there was a complimentary breakfast... speaking of...I'll get to that later. I'm still confused as to why she chose to ask us if we brought towels and then proceeded to give us bath towels right there at the reception desk. She did not even bother to walk us to our room. On opening the room we were greated by the most unpleasant scent ever, sort of like wet dirty gym socks. There was lizard poo all over the place, the furniture was old and creaky, the bed was nasty looking with stains, the pillows were like board and smelly, the toilet was dated and grimy...eww. There was not even a clear view of the ocean from the room. As the evening rolled on there were some noisy people across the street blasting music from their vehicles which made it difficult to sleep. The folllowing morning we had to ask about breakfast. After waiting for what seemed to be a lifetime we were "treated" to cold toast, butter, tasteless scrambled eggs, hard bacon, mild coffee and sour orange juice. One more thing... the resturant's washroom was locked.We decided to leave early and never visit Maracas Bay Hotel again unless our only other option was sleeping on the streets. I'll rate this "hotel" as 0.5... it's the worst!
