“not again”

My family stayed at the maracas beach hotel in August 2011. Firstly there are no phones, tv or internet access in the rooms, so if you are going with children carry things to keep thembusy. The rooms have absolutely no towels( this was a first for me)no place to unpack clothes, not even a clothes hanger. There was not even a glass to drink water. The bed was uncomfortable. the worst though is lying in bed and seeing a cockroach crawling on the wall!!! The only good thing was the service by the kitchen and dining staff who were friendly and very homely.

“not good at all”

Wanting a little break from our busy lives and having just completed school, my friend and I decided to take our families to the Maracas Bay Hotel for the weekend. We booked rooms next to each other for convenience. When we got to the front desk they told us that they would not be able to accomadate our request for close rooms. At this point we didnt have much choice. They give us the keys and no further info. The rooms were so disappointing! No towels, no mats in the bathroom, no shampoo, no phone...nothing!!!! Just beds and thankfully and AC. We didnt even realise that there were pillows...or at least something looking like pillows. The view wasn't what we expected at all. Mostly trees blocking the beach and people who were parked in front the hotel. The bar and "restaurant" closed at 7:30 p.m. before we could think about getting anything. The next morning we went down for breakfast at 7:45a.m. only to be told to "come back in 15 minutes breakfast is at 8!!!" in a most unprofessional way. To add to that only one person was working at breakfast time, so she took the order, made the toast & eggs & bacon and brought it to the table. And she had to do this for all the families present. No wonder she was not pleasant. I would really not recommend this resort to anyone and I definitely would not take my family there again.

“A truly terrible experience.”

We chose Maracas Bay Hotel because my boyfriend and I decided to take last minute trip to Maracas beach ...we thought that it would have been convenient to stay there since the hotel is across the road ... a decision that we both regret. We would have been better off sleeping in the car. On check-in the receptionist was very snotty and was not informative. We were not even aware that there was a complimentary breakfast... speaking of...I'll get to that later. I'm still confused as to why she chose to ask us if we brought towels and then proceeded to give us bath towels right there at the reception desk. She did not even bother to walk us to our room. On opening the room we were greated by the most unpleasant scent ever, sort of like wet dirty gym socks. There was lizard poo all over the place, the furniture was old and creaky, the bed was nasty looking with stains, the pillows were like board and smelly, the toilet was dated and grimy...eww. There was not even a clear view of the ocean from the room. As the evening rolled on there were some noisy people across the street blasting music from their vehicles which made it difficult to sleep. The folllowing morning we had to ask about breakfast. After waiting for what seemed to be a lifetime we were "treated" to cold toast, butter, tasteless scrambled eggs, hard bacon, mild coffee and sour orange juice. One more thing... the resturant's washroom was locked. We decided to leave early and never visit Maracas Bay Hotel again unless our only other option was sleeping on the streets. I'll rate this "hotel" as 0.5... it's the worst!

“hotel in need of help”

i work almost every day, so it was a rare occasion that my wife and i got to take a get away especially on a monday. To start of this day we were greated by the most unfriendly person in the world at the front desk who had the nerve to ask us if we brought our own towels( imagine that ). The room door was sticking and had no security lock and parts of the door was rotted. The room had a old musty stale smell. The bathroom sink was leaking and there was a brown water leaking under the the cupboard which was screwed shut no it was of no use. However the toilet and shower were clean and there was hot water thank God.The room itself consisted of two standard size beds thats it. No chairs no table no couch no kitchen facility not even clothes hangers in the built in closet. For $550.00 ttd per nite at least a clothes hanger would be nice. Now most important u would think a hotel would have pillows on the beds well think again There was a poor excuse for what they called a pillow on the bed. It was like a slim piece of some undescribeable stiff material the caused my wife and I to experiance the most uncomfortable nite sleep in our life. On the positive side the guy at the front desk at niteshift was very polite and helpful and the girl who cooked and served us dinner was also pleasent and courteous. The aircondition worked very good so $550.00 is what it costs for a room with nothing but hot/cold water and good working aircondition. Next morning and i mean at about 4:00 am it was the disturbing sounds of creatures fighting and scraping at the ceiling above our heads the woke us. Breakfast was nice and the lady who served us was cheerful. The front desk girl next morning was also very pleasent and cheerful not like the grumpy lady who we met on arrival. This place is situaded in such a marveleous location so here is a word of advice retrain the grumpy lady upgrade the facilities a fridge microwave and a tv maybe be a welcome addition to some of the rooms.
Till then we wil not be returning or reccomending this establishment to any one any where

“rotten wood, dated sink, toilet, dated shower, no tv, more like 1or 2 star”

The pictures looks very nice on the internet but its a joke...We booked two rooms and these are the positves....good view of the beach, two beds in each rooms...lovely lady who served breakfast.
The negatives, where do i begin! Over priced, girl at the reception desk unfriendly, and the room, my god, sinks, doors, toilet, shower, balcony all outdated. There are no tv, no coffee making facility, Food is very expensive. We could see rotten wood in the sink area...the rooms was like a joke...im not sure how this is a 3 star. You can hear rats making noise in the night on the roof but they didnt get in thank god!If you thinking of staying here dont..its better to find somewhre in pos and drive to the beach..The owners need to fix their hotel. If they did you would probably find more people staying here and returning.
