“aptly named ' Harmony'”

After coming to St.Lucia for 14 years now,I am amazed at the changes going on with the growing tourism industry. It seems that all the new hotels are all very high end ,and so I found it very refreshing to still find small gems like Harmony Suites.
Where it isn't a fancy upscale hotel,it is clean and cozy and quiet.
Good beds, nice sheets and soft white comforter.
Right in the center of all the best restaurants(one being right there on the water at the hotel. The Edgewater.Fabulous spot, excellent food and atmosphere.(great Brandy Alexanders!)
At least i feel like I am on a Caribbean island..instead of a cookie-cutter resort where I can be anywhere, as they all look and feel the same.
Harmony is perfectly named.
You feel calm as soon as you arrive.
All people in the Hospitality industry should take a lesson from Liz who works the front desk.
She greets you with a gorgeous smile, and a helpful attitude.
I REALLY enjoyed my stay.

“Harmony Reigns in Harmony Suites”

We LOVED our stay at Harmony Suites!!! It was our first time to St. Lucia, and we didn't know what to expect from St. Lucia or from Harmony Suites. Both exceeded our expectations! St. Lucia is stunningly beautiful, friendly, safe, clean, etc. and etc.
We booked Harmony Suites through Expedia.ca, somewhat skeptical that it was too good to be true, given the prices.
When we arrived at the front desk, we were greeted by the exceptionally professional and friendly Esther. We had booked and prepaid for a Luxury Waterfront Suite, but Esther explained to us that all these suites had already been booked when Expedia had taken our reservation - that there was a time lag between their communications. She apologized sincerely, on behalf of the hotel, and promised to try to do whatever it would take to make us happy. We really appreciated her helpful attitude. She offered us several options, all of which were quite generous. We agreed to stay in a Premium Suite (next grade down) and the hotel offered us 1 dinner for 2 and 4 breakfasts for 2 at the Edge, their onsite restaurant. WHAT A DEAL!! The Edge is superb!!! To think that otherwise we may not have eaten there! Our dinner was memorable, for the food, the service and the waterfront setting. Esther managed to get us a table for 2 that same evening, although the restaurant is so popular that you can't expect to have dinner there without a reservation! The breakfasts were excellent as well. It was great to have a relaxing, delicious breakfast, served waterside and by very friendly staff, each morning before we set off for the day. We did not need to eat lunch after the full Edge breakfasts.
All the staff at Harmony Suites and at the Edge were professional and friendly. Any time we asked a question at the front desk, it turned into a lengthy chat, and I remember that we were always laughing. The staff there seem so happy they are always on the verge of laughter.
The facility itself is comfortable. Staying there is extremely pleasant and excellent value for money. The premium suite had all the basic comforts, and a basic kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. Everything worked well and was very clean.
The pool is smallish, but given the size of the hotel, it was never busy, and lounge chairs were always available.
Best of all: The day we were leaving, Esther offered to keep our camcorder behind the front desk for us until we left for the airport. We got in our taxi with our suitcases, forgetting completely to retrieve our camcorder! (Our fault completely!) We only remembered when we arrived at the front of a long line to check in with US Airways at Hewanorra Int'l Airport (70 kms away!) We asked the US Airways rep what we should do and she said we should have it taxied to the airport. (mistake.) We did, at the cost of $70 US. But the plane left before the camcorder arrived, so we thought we would never see it again. But Esther followed up with us by email, and when she found out we had not gotten our camcorder, she took charge and tracked it down, investing a fair amount of her time to do this. We could scarcely believe it when we actually received our camcorder back in Vancouver, Canada! We have NEVER experienced that level of caring from a hotel and its staff!! Thanks Esther!!
Harmony Suites is short walk to a Reduit Beach, a great beach. We enjoyed the walk from the hotel to the beach and the strip of restaurants along the way. Our favourite restaurant on the strip was Buzz Seafood and Grill. Make sure you have a reservation, any night of the week. Look out for Lucy, the resident cat :)
We also highly recommend the onsite Cost Less car rental and internet cafe. Very friendly and helpful people.
Ok, just in case you think we are overly effusive people, we were not blown away by the Friday night fish party at Gros Islet. The whole thing seemed a little contrived.
But we would recommend Harmony Suites, The Edge, Buzz and Cost Less car rental to all. No hesitation. And we WILL be back :) :)

“Wonderful, friendly & fab location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2008

I stayed here after 2 weeks in St Lucia in other hotels. Immediately, the reception was helpful, co-operative and friendly. The location is great and a bit misleading from maps and directions - you are actually only 2 mins from the buzzing area of restaurants and bars, but the hotel itself is very quiet. The attached Edge restaurant is, as others have said, probably the best on the island - a bit pricey but a real treat.
I decided not to stay here for the first part of my holiday as I was on my own. However, I now realise that it would probably have been perfectly safe. You do need to be careful in St Lucia at night - whether on your own or with others - but I don't think the location of Harmony would have caused a problem.
The staff are all delightful, the hairdresser was fab and we even met the late owner's family who were lovely! I would thoroughly recommend Harmony Suites for singles or couples visiting the area of Rodney Bay.

  • Liked — location, staff
  • Disliked — needs a 100yard walk down a quiet road to get there.

“Excellant position”

Harmony is in a perfect position for beaches, restaurants and for getting around the island. The rooms are very clean but a little tired and could do with some updating. Thr front desk staff are very friendly and always happy to offer advice about the island.

Our favourite restaurant was Buzz where the Tempura Shrimp is do die for but most of the restaurants served a good meal at a sensible price. The local supermarket sells filled rolls which are great for a lunchtime snack at around £1 and the turnovers are good too.

Reduit Beach could get crowded when the cruise liners came in but if you move to the end of the beach it is relatively quiet, don't take any nonsense from the locals trying to "rent" you a sun lounger, they belong to the hotel not the local beach traders.
If you have a sense of fun and adventure take a trip on the Canopy Zipwire, great fun and an experience you will never forget.

Lots of quiet coves to find. We enjoyed Marigot Bay most. It is well worth hiring a car to find these places just mind the potholes.

My only gripe with St. Lucia is that it is getting very built up with chain hotels and fast food restaurants moving in and taking over. Other than that a great place to visit.

“fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2008

I have stayed at the harmony now for three years in a row, l wouldn't consider any other hotel on the island. There is no where else l have stayed, that make you as welcome and at home as they do at the harmony , right through from reception when you arrive to the housekeeping and maintenance staff.
The hotel is a budget hotel ( which is reflected in the price ), but it is clean, very spacious , private & friendly.

  • Liked — very spacious, clean
  • Disliked — kitchen area, it could be bigger
