My husband and I traveled to Puerto Rico for the first time and chose Coqui based on the great reviews. From the first introduction to the onsite manager Noyda and husband Neal to the lovely Estee with her very positive energy, helpful attitude and smile we felt right at home. We stayed in the La Concha room, which was well laid out for a couple of two, perfect small kitchen with all of the amenities, comfortable bed and a wonderful shower featuring twin heads - great water pressure and plenty of hot water. In addition to the great staff who provided an abundance of recommendations for food and activities, there are many free amenities such as beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear and coolers available for use. The location of Coqui is in a suburban area, within a 2 minute walk to the most wonderful beach and only a 10 minute walk to many wonderful restaurants - our favorite being Ferarri Gourmet (review separate). The beach is long and is a treasure to walk with its abundance of beach finds, including sea glass. There are great palm trees located on the beach for those who prefer some shade. A grocery store within a few short blocks with everything you need to stock your kitchen (i.e. beer and wine) as well as fruits and a deli for meats and cheese to prepare your own sandwiches for the beach. Also, you can catch the bus to Old San Jaun for a reasonable 75 cents per person (exact change) and its only a short 25 minute ride, bus stop located right next to the shell station.A rental car is not necessary unless you desire to see other areas of the country, you can find everything you need within walking distance or the bus. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here, highly recommend it if you prefer a casual, small and stress free environment from which to make your home base. One last thing, the common area of the Coqui has a grill and was a great place to meet up with other guests for cocktail hour before dinner!

Room tip: La Concha is perfect for couples!

Coqui del Mar was the perfect place for our girls getaway! Being our first trip to Puerto Rico meant we wanted everything to be perfect and after much researching we landed on Coqui del Mar and it's beautiful location. The staff was absolutely wonderful and attentive. The place was easy to book, clean, and only two blocks away from one of the most beautiful beaches ever. We loved the house manager, Noyda, who wasn't only accommodating to our needs, but also took the time to recommend places and activities based on our interests. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to be back!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Coqui del Mar. Starting with the welcome basket with fruit and all of the fixings to make a pina colada (special thanks to Estee for the special instructions - I'll be making these all summer) to Noyda's instructions to the taxi driver on how to get there, we felt at home every moment we were there. As many have stated, a number of great restaurants are nearby, and the beach is a few steps away. The guidebook they provide in the room is helpful, as are the local travel guides - Noyda was available to provide advice. We stayed at La Concha, which has plenty of room to spread out; the separate, fully stocked kitchen came in handy, and the double-headed shower was my favorite feature. We plan to stay here again the next time we are in Puerto Rico.

Room tip: We liked being on the second floor

I loved Coqui del Mar! It's conveniently located 30 seconds from the beach (where I spent all my time). The accommodations were lovely- really cute room with bathroom and kitchenette. In the room there was tons of information about the area, and Coqui provided bikes, beach chairs, and umbrellas for rent. There was also a great courtyard that had tons of wildlife like anoles which was really cool. The staff was so, so nice and helpful. If I come back to PR I'm definitely staying here again.

Long overdue review, we stayed January 23-26, 27, 28-29 as we became stranded in Puerto Rico :-) during the Blizzard of '15 in New England. We had decided last minute to run-a-way for the weekend and leave the bitter New England cold behind and tank up on some vitamin D, only to find ourselves trapped in paradise. Before we could check out we were notified our flights home were canceled. I spoke to Noyda (on-site manager) and got on e-mail to Rob (remote owner, very fast replies). We first extended one night, and then had to extend two more. As we were stranded at high season Rob could have taken advantage of us but instead was very understanding and took good care of us.
We arrived very early in the morning after a red eye flight and a so / so breakfast at Denny's (not many choices at the hour of the morning) Noyda heard us “quietly” sneak through the gate and promptly came to great us. Our original arrangements were to grab some beach chairs and head to the beach till check-in. She let us know La Luna was empty and ready for us. We stayed in the La Luna room (last available, short notice) and found it to be everything we needed. Including a fully equipped kitchen that we never used except for the coffee pot and refrigerator as we had no intentions of cooking with Puerto Rico having such an up and coming food scene. We are walkers and thought nothing of wandering around and had absolutely no issues. We rented a car (very inexpensive) which opens up many things to do. On street parking was easy enough. We explored El Yunque National Forest, many beaches, and amazing food (trust Trip Advisor and Yelp). Beaches are all public with varying amounts services. Some were better than others and parking was $4. Having access to coolers and beach chairs for our use made a huge difference. We would pick up sandwiches to go after breakfast for our “adventures”. After day on the beach, use the outside shower to rinse the sand away, hit the hot tub, shower and get ready for a new dinner experience (food reviews when I have more time).
As others have noted this is not a 5 star resort. IT IS a very reasonable inn (guest house) with enough of the good things and many extras you won’t find at a hotel to overlook the little things and enjoy your time at Coqui Del Mar. Many Thanks, Recommended. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
