A little delayed, but here goes! My husband and I spent yet another wonderful week at Club Ambiance from July 16 – July 23, 2010. This was our second time there and celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary! We requested a ground floor room off of the garden and that’s what we got! We had the same type of room last year and just loved sitting on the patio off of our room in the mornings and enjoyed talking with people walking by, the gardeners, or just enjoying the beautiful trees and flowers. The landscape is simple, but quite beautiful. Upon arrival, the staff was excellent with big smiles…really made us feel great to be returning guests. We were greeted with a refreshing fruit punch and then we were escorted to our room. The room was exactly as we had expected. Very clean, cool, and spacious! The food there, in my opinion, is really good! I would never complain about a meal that I don’t have to prepare and clean up after! My favorite part of the evening meals was the soup…and I was always quite excited to see the left over soups along with either pizza, wraps, or sandwiches at the “midnight” snack. We did the “ala carte” meal on the night of our anniversary, it also was very good! The drinks were mixed perfectly to my asking! My favorite for the week was the rum punch…delicious and refreshing! The staff was just as lovely and friendly as I remembered them from the year before. We met up with a few of our favorites and enjoyed chatting with them throughout the week. We didn’t do any excursions, but we did walk down to the cross roads and took public transportation into Ocho Rios for some shopping. While some would say this can be dangerous, I never felt in danger and actually enjoy doing it the way the local people would. I would recommend booking a massage while your there. We each did an hour long one on our anniversary and then 2 days later we each got a half hour one. It felt wonderful…very relaxing getting to hear the ocean while having all your troubles massaged away! This year, we again got to visit with the owner, Alex. It is always a great pleasure to talk with him and the manager Gilbert. The beaches are small, but I’ve never had a problem with them. They’re private and are only used by guests. There were always plenty of lounge chairs to choose from. While some people may be picky about the depth of the water, to me it is nothing to complain about. The rock walls enclosing the lagoons are great to sit on and enjoy the fantastic sunsets or watch the fish. The pool was one of my favorite hangouts. While it isn’t huge and glamorous, it was perfect for catching a tan, drink, and good conversation and was never too crowded! There are water sports available: kayaks, pedalos, and snorkeling equipment. We snorkeled out past the rock walls and found the shipwreck that we’d always heard about. The entertainment staff is always hard at work, as are all of the staff at Club Ambiance. They never pester you to join in, and if they do pester you at all its just out of good fun! We enjoyed the outdoor ping pong table in the evenings the most. I’ve read many complaints about the towel situations, but we honestly had nice, fluffy towels in our rooms. They were collected in the mornings and were always returned to our rooms by lunch time. To sum up this review, I couldn’t walk away from Club Ambiance with the tiniest complaint even if I wanted to! The staff is amazing, the guests are friendly and fun, the food is great, and the drinks are delicious. Club Ambiance will always hold a special place in my heart and I absolutely cannot wait to go back there again.
