“would not change a thing”

We traveled in our usual group of 16 and all of us agreed it was by far the best 2 week vacation ever! the age of our group was from 19 - 56 years old. We have been to cuba twice sls and tryp pennisula, Mexico sandos carolcol, Dominican grand pallidium palace. But brb was by far the best. Rooms everyone in our group stayed in the standard room other than us we got a free upgrade to plunge pool which was great. Very clean. Food was excellent all the group said it was the best so far. beach was good but not as nice as veradero or dominican. Service was excellent the bar staff would come to my room when our group would play cards on my patio to bring us a round of drinks, Also serve drinks on the beach. The games room and hot tub were nice in the evening to shoot some pool or soak in the hot tub.Sercurity guards were excellent great to talk to and felt very safe knowing they watched for u to come home. Golf the kids loved it I had not golfed in 25 years (only one time) I went twice and wished I went more. Hats off to our caddy Ian he was superb I kept up to the rest of the golfers due to him. Thank you. Also to Raymond who caddied my kids lots and took us for a great time one evening. I felt it was great value for our dollar we have always stayed at larger resorts so we were not sure how we would like a smaller one for 2 weeks it was great. Would return in a heartbeat. Goat racing a blast lots of other games to play if u are so inclined also dont miss Allison at the japanese she is a super hostess.

“Upgrade to the plunge pool”

So this is the first review I've ever written - just goes to show the adage of people only commenting when they have negative things to say is true.
We went to this resort for a wedding and were excited as we'd assumed that a Breezes would be a very nice resort. We tried to upgrade to a plunge pool room upon booking but our agent told us they were sold out so we ended up with a Delux room. Not what we were expecting. We arrived around 9 pm and had to wait until 10:30 pm to eat after a 6.5 hr flight. When we got into our room I was quite disappointed given what we had paid to go to the resort. We did have a king size bed but the "bathroom" was somewhat non-existant. The toilet and shower were both in the same room and the sink out in the room. My boyfriend is 6'2 and pretty built - he could hardly stand facing the shower head but each arm was brushing the sides of the shower. Also - we didn't have any cold water in the shower. Every shower was like peeling your skin off. The floor was constantly wet under our sink as well. We complained and they did offer to move us into another room but didn't have anything available until the next day - no one came to fix our shower. We asked about an upgrade and was told it would be an extra $30 a day. So - no one fixed our shower and we had to pay to change into a plunge pool room. This room was much better - had an actual bathroom and a bar fridge with beer, pop and water. It was the room I was expecting to get in the first place.

After a day in the room the boyfriend couldn't be in it without being stuffed up and coughing. The light just in the entry way of the room was dripping and there was a constant puddle. I'm thinking there was probably mildew in the room.

The rest of the resort was alright - bar service was sketchy at best (unless you provided a tip), the wait at the buffets for food they were preparing to order was long but the food was good. The jerk chicken sandwiches were fantastic at the cafe - hint - get the sauce on the fries - Jamaicain Poutin! lol.

It's and ok resort but I don't think I'd go back. If I did I'd have to have an ocean front room (newest rooms on the resort).

The boyfriend wanted to walk the beach and was approached several times to buy weed - this also happened on the resort.

I guess if you're not expecting a swanky trip and to just chill by the pool/beach this would be the place for you.

One thing I did find quite different from other trips I'd taken south (Mexico and the Dominican) - service providers are very upfront about requesting tips. To the point where I was offended.

Room Tip: Two words - plunge pool or ocean front

“So Much for So Much Less”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I have stayed at well over 2 dozen of the most popular all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica. I have now spent 48 weeks collectively on the island of Jamaica. Suffice to say as far as the country goes... I LOVE it !! lol I have also done at least 20 other trips throughout other Caribbean destinations. I prefice with this to give you an idea of the perspective I speak from.

This was my 17th stay at Breezes Runaway Bay. I have to say it is the perfect resort for me. It is not necessarily the most luxurious, newest, largest or highest quality place but it's advantages are immeasurable... The beach is phenominal, the coral is a short swim off shore offering excellent snorkeling for all. The waters are some of the most colourful hues on the island on account of the varying depths. The sand is soft and rockless.

The house band is the best band on the island... they are truly phenominal ! The entertainment and nightlife at BRB is better than so many of the other adult only a/i resorts. Much more active and participated than the couples only places.

The staff are outstanding. Most service personel in Jamaica are wonderful and personable people but there are a couple dozen, long-time employees at Breezes Runaway Bay that are incomparably genuine and friendly. Sylvia, Errol, Douglas, Egg-boy, Simone, Sherrine, Barbara, Victoria, Keisha, Amoi, Stacey, Ivan, Feron, Duwayne, Jason, Alshane, Omar, Ann Marie .... The list is incredible !

The activities during the day are tons of fun and always well attended. Facilites and equipement are in excellent condition. There is a championship golf course on property.

The food at BRB is excellent, especially in the a la carte restaurants and the beach grill. The Japonese Restaurant is really good in an outdoor setting. The Italian has an awesome anti-pesto bar. Ivan makes the best smoothies in the world at the breakfast buffet and NO one cooks eggs like Egg Boy !

For the average price of BRB it is the best value a/i resort on the island.

Room Tip: The Oceanfront Rooms have beautiful views and are better appointed than the other catagories.

“Breezes Runaway Bay.... we're going back”

Going back for a third time to this resort and an eight time to Jamaica pretty soon and we just can't wait.

One thing that we found questionable about some other review is the fact that day passes were given out to jamaicans.

Well, when we go to other countries we like to learn about other people too and I think giving day passes gives us a chance to meet and exchange with jamaicans in the luxury of our resort. Very convenient I say. We've met a few people that way actually. We always thought that it was too bad that the people that work at the resorts could not spend much time talking and sharing their life with us. So we're pretty happy they someone finally understood that sometimes you need to let the people in. See you soon!

“Great Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We were in Jamaica for two weeks, but only stayed here for one week (May 19-26, 2011). Our great experience at this hotel was arriving to find a bottle of champagne iced down after going on an all day tour. It was compliments of hotel management and our travel agent (Cheryl with Custom Travel). It was a nice surprise!

Room: We stayed in the newer portion of the hotel in the plunge pool oceanfront one bedroom suite. This room has one heck of a "wow" factor. The room itself was huge! It had sliding glass doors in the bedroom and the living area that went outside to the plunge pool. The living room had a window with a view that was second to none. This window/wall was less than 2 feet from the actual beach!! The shower had 5 shower heads in it (never had a problem with water pressure). The plunge pool was great (just needed to be cleaned).

Restaurants: The beach terrace dining room was a buffet. It was what you would expect of an all-inclusive (average). Martino's was a little better and it was more formal. The service was excellent, but the food was average. Munasan was fun! This restaurant is a must do while your there. The chefs were very personable and comical. You will laugh until you cry at this place. The food was again...average. If you are going here for the food, you may want to try another resort.

Housekeeping: Was cleaned once a day. Very clean.

Bars: Never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a drink at any bar. Grey Goose Martini's were fabulous! Try the Bob Marley. My wife swears it is the best drink she's ever had. They do not skimp on the alcohol at this place! I was pleasantly surprised.

Beach: The beach was beautiful!!! There were only a couple of days that the weather did not cooperate. (It's a tropical island. It is going to rain. Get a good room and grab some drinks.)

Not so good: 1) Food. Food. Food. 2) If you stay in a regular room, be prepared. These rooms are older and they show it. I was shocked after seeing our room. 3) Room service is restricted to continental breakfast in the morning. It would be lovely if you could order some kind of lunch or dinner later in the day (especially when its raining).

Overall, a nice place. Probably will not return. I like personal service and great food. We usually stay in hotels with a guest to staff ratio of 1:2 and personal service is paramount. If you want something at this resort, you need to ask. They will do anything you ask. But you will have to ask.

Room Tip: If you see it raining, go to the bar and order 6 or 7 drinks and take them back to the room. The rai...
