We were in Jamaica for two weeks, but only stayed here for one week (May 19-26, 2011). Our great experience at this hotel was arriving to find a bottle of champagne iced down after going on an all day tour. It was compliments of hotel management and our travel agent (Cheryl with Custom Travel). It was a nice surprise!
Room: We stayed in the newer portion of the hotel in the plunge pool oceanfront one bedroom suite. This room has one heck of a "wow" factor. The room itself was huge! It had sliding glass doors in the bedroom and the living area that went outside to the plunge pool. The living room had a window with a view that was second to none. This window/wall was less than 2 feet from the actual beach!! The shower had 5 shower heads in it (never had a problem with water pressure). The plunge pool was great (just needed to be cleaned).
Restaurants: The beach terrace dining room was a buffet. It was what you would expect of an all-inclusive (average). Martino's was a little better and it was more formal. The service was excellent, but the food was average. Munasan was fun! This restaurant is a must do while your there. The chefs were very personable and comical. You will laugh until you cry at this place. The food was again...average. If you are going here for the food, you may want to try another resort.
Housekeeping: Was cleaned once a day. Very clean.
Bars: Never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a drink at any bar. Grey Goose Martini's were fabulous! Try the Bob Marley. My wife swears it is the best drink she's ever had. They do not skimp on the alcohol at this place! I was pleasantly surprised.
Beach: The beach was beautiful!!! There were only a couple of days that the weather did not cooperate. (It's a tropical island. It is going to rain. Get a good room and grab some drinks.)
Not so good: 1) Food. Food. Food. 2) If you stay in a regular room, be prepared. These rooms are older and they show it. I was shocked after seeing our room. 3) Room service is restricted to continental breakfast in the morning. It would be lovely if you could order some kind of lunch or dinner later in the day (especially when its raining).
Overall, a nice place. Probably will not return. I like personal service and great food. We usually stay in hotels with a guest to staff ratio of 1:2 and personal service is paramount. If you want something at this resort, you need to ask. They will do anything you ask. But you will have to ask.
